The Vanishing Acts Of Dell

I am somewhat outraged about a purchse I was about to make with my credit card on the AUS dell website, and I have come to the members of emutalk to discuss this. I visited the AU site thisarvo to configure my new Inspiron latop. On the homepage, and on various other parts of the website, it was noted that I would recieve a $200 discount if I purchased the latop BEFORE 12:00 AEST. At around 9:00 this night, credit card in hand I was about to make the purchse (and the discount was still shown on the homepage), when I realsed that when configuring the computer, the discount was not enforced. Then when it came to the billing section, I did not recieve the $200 discount, so I didn't buy it. I have no idea what do to, the 12:00 AEST is approching rapidly, and I want the discount.

Below are some pictures I took of this 'vanishing Act'

They'll probably tell you that the laptop you bought wasn't a "selected" one for the deal or some bullshit. Burn down their headquarters.

I've had little in the way of problems with Dell (save for trying to get some memory for my pc), but I would only call them as a last resort, personally.

Their call center, atleast for US calls, is in New Dehli. God I hate outsourcing.

Either way, I've never talked to somebody that I can understand and don't have to ask to repeat everything they say due to a heavy accent.

I generally just try and send them emails now in the hopes of more success.

The discount probably applies only to the laptop in THEIR configuration. Your changing that nullified the deal.

Yeah, I LOATHE that they moved their tech support to India. >< Good thing emails don't have accents huh? lol

It doesn't mean the service is any better with email.

Last time I contacted them about something, I had to explain/ask them repeatedly about things that they weren't answering correctly or answering at all.

Well, technically, it's people speaking Spanish; they're likely Mexicans (legal or otherwise).

AOL is rather stupid. They're losing customers by the hundreds of thousands, and the only solution they've come up with is to hand away hundreds of thousands of cd's that just let assholes spam the rest of us.
