Tell me what I'm doing wrong

I already got everything set up in my Chankast folder. My DC bios is from the European version which is the one with the blue DC logo.

I have a copy of Jet Grind Radio with me, a US version, me thinks. I don't understand what you guys meant by PC drive can't read GD-ROM, but nevertheless, I insert the disc in the drive, it got detected, and I burn the ISO with File setting using WinISO.

After all that's done, I tried to play the game using the mounted image in Daemon, start the chankast, and it didn't detect the CD. The 'Please insert disc' pops up.

So where did I go wrong?

PS: I'm new to this Chankast. Can someone explain what bootabe, non-bootable, and self-bootable disc means. Thanks.

PC drives can't read original Dreamcast disks, as a result you cannot use them with Chankast. The only way to run games with the emulator is to use backups (CD-Rs or ISO images).

There are two kinds of Dreamcast backups, self-bootable and non-bootable.
Self-bootable backups run directly when you place them in the drive of a Dreamcast (or when you place them in the drive of a PC and start the emulator).
Non-bootable backups do not run directly when you place them in the drive of a Dreamcast (or when you place them in the drive of a PC and start the emulator). In order to make non-bootable backups run you must use a boot disk or use a special application that makes them self-bootable.

I see. So the application you mention is like the Utopia boot disk.

But then again, I actually DID make an ISO image of the JGR game. Is my procedure correct? I mean, it seems too easy, consideing how many topics are made asking how to make an ISO image. I just put the disc in my PC drive and rip it using WinISO. Is it correct?

Oooo. And the JGR ISO image is just 599MB in size. Is this correct, since I've read somewhere on the board stating a GD-ROM size should be 1GB+.

you cant rip real dreamcast games that way you need special cables to do it. the only way is to download a iso image and burn it or just use daemon tools or alcohol virtual drive to mount the image.

Stop trying to rip GDROMS it's not that easy, you can't just stick it in the PC and rip it with some generic software you need hardware, so save yourself the time and effort and just download the game image.
