SVN Builds - which is the Best

Hello emutalk.net Community

WARNING: very very bad english because im german and i suck in english :(

Im a new Member on this Forum but i read most of the Threads since 2 weeks.

Right now im trying really to play with the Dolphin Emulator so i got a difficult task :) (no offense to developers)

So lets start how i experienced the Dolphin. At first i played much Project 64. I have a N64 at home but i dont own much games so i tryed the Emulator and i was nearly flawless! stable 60 FPS just very little Bugs or Crashes i was amazed! But then i wanted to play SSBM so i had to choose a GC Emulator. Well some "googling" and i know i would dl Dolphin. i downloaded the SSBM.iso because i knew that i need this.

But it wasn't that easy. i tryed version 1.2 but it was very sloooow like 4 FPS . I cant play like this >_<

So i checked out the forum and landed here.

Right now i play with the SVN Build and i know that are "Subversions" which are actually only for Developers and Testers but it went better than i thought right now i have in-game 22FPS with Dual Core turned on and using the OGL plugin.

Well that is a good result and i already unlocked some characters. But faster would better for better gameplay? I know I know thats the Point where Developers get mad! "Who cares about Speed? Compability is important!!" I know that. But as i said before i really want to play the game since i have no idea in developing anythin xD

Now my actual Question : Which Build is the Best?

Haha of course this is a stupid question. you wont know what i mean by that. So lets think about it. I want a decent FPS so i need a version which really strain my CPU and can get everything out of it. Since they arent many Bugs in SSBM i think i could use the r1 version ;)

Why i ask? well they are lots of SVN and i dont know which is the newest who is developing and updating and whatever =)

So What i need is a stable and fast Version for x32. (thats the point why im asking too because falcon4ever only releases x64 and x84 builds am i right?)

and i have another Problem too.

I tryed to play Starfox Assault too i was really amazed by the newest SVN Builds the intro works the movies works and ingame works too until the first boss... the graphics was messed up like hell and not only this... you know the aparoid boss in the first level?. you have to hit his "eyes" to damage him. But through the bugs some of the eyes were stuck in the ground so i cant hit them >_< any suggestions how to solve this?

Sry if im wasting your time im new here i really like to write threads like this so i hope you understand what im searching for.

P.S. Please don't judge me as a guy who thinks that everything has to work without problems. I KNOW that there are guys out there who sit days and night on this thing to make this Emulator such awesome good job !!! keep up the good work. Im not asking for making flawless work or anything i just try to understand with world and i hope you can help me ;)

At last my PC im using:

Windows XP x32 Version (i dont really know that x32 is but i know that since i cant use the x64 builds)
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33 GHZ (i dont think that it is overclocked)
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS (256mb i think)

in theory the latest build should be the best, since it's a WIP snapshot of the latest modifications the developers have made. I find it gets better each release.

for instance the latest builds have added savestate! That is a real jump forwards. No more piddling around with memory card slots.

thank you cooliscool that helped me much ! who would think that they are two diffrent numbers for the same thing xD

i see cerebus5 thats what i thought too but they were some cases where the older versions were more "stable" thx

and btw does anyone know why the starfox bug occured? i think it has something to do with the OGL plugin

There are older stable versions it's true, but in general it's an upward curve. And it really depends on the game and your setup.

When playing Starfox Assault or Resident Evil Remake set OptimizeQuantizers = False in the dolphin.ini or else the problem with the second boss being stuck in the ground occurs as well as fox being messed up in the later on-foot missions.

In Resident Evil Remake if OptimizeQuantizers aren't disabled, the character models are messed up.

I would say to try the latest revisions, some older revisions might give better speed at the cost of the fixes and increased compatibility that is implemented in the newer revisions.

I will be uploading a new revision later on after I finish reading the first chapter in a books for my college business class.
