Super Joy Box 13

Hey

I've just received my 2 Super Joy Box 13's (GC to USB).

I downloaded the Mayflash drivers from here: http://www.mayflash.com/download.htm

and then I found tjsynkral's "sj13" Patch here: http://forum.lik-sang.com/showpost.php?p=2377&postcount=8

(There is also one other driver version that I've found from Jellyhat here:
http://forum.lik-sang.com/showpost.php?p=83982&postcount=13
I'm not sure what difference this is though to the original - it says version 2 but I cant see any difference)

I ended up using the Original Mayflash driver and the "sj13" patch because I needed to calibrate the pad.

I'm using N-Rage Input V2 1.83 and have managed to get it all working, even with rumble :bouncy:

There is one snag however. Because of the GC controllers L-R Sliders, just the slightest touch on either side will cause it to react - in fact, by going into the calibration, you can see theres always a value, ie not 0 when its not being pressed. (The N64 ones where just buttons if I remember correctly?)

For games like Goldeneye, it means the "aim" is always on. I have to hold down both L&R for it to go out of aim. I did work round this by putting Aim to Toggle, but in games like Starfox, theres no option to do this.

Is there away of fixing this?

I was thinking because when you press L&R down to the full, they "click", which is mapped as a button in the calibration screen. But how can I get N-Rage to map to the "Clicks" instead of the "Sliding" in between?

Any thoughts would be great!

No worries, I got it going how I want!

I'm using the version 2 driver, that seems to work a little better and you dont need to use the registry patch - only thing is you wont be able to calibrate, which might be an issue but seems to work fine on mine.

Then in N-Rage input, for the L&R, just press it down really quick and it should detect the button rather than the slider. It sometimes comes up as (axis)+ or other times button number 5/6.

I'm happy! Now to get rice video beta 10 to work...:plain:

You could switch to digital in the control panel... that should make the driver interpret the sliders as just buttons. I've had troubles with this driver, as well...

Yeah, I did try that, but I prefered the "Flight Mode" control style. As I say I did manage to get it to interpret the buttons by pressing down the L or R really quickly.

You can either switch it to digital, or already have the slider fully pressed before setting the button, and when you unclick it it will detect the click first.

h2oz7v, Doomulation and elektrixxx:

do you still have this great adapter?

i have a new one, very happy to play with an analog pad for my first time!

i want these files:
Jellyhat version 2 driver (ex forum.lik-sang.com is not available anymore (sony closed)
tjsynkral's "sj13" Patch

and your experience with the best config :)

thanks

Yes, still have it but no drivers after countless Windows re-installs. The thing is tricky to work with due to poor driver support.

ok, i'll have a look in sj13 patch

PS: joypadgame is a great page with lots of good info :)

Super Joy Box 13:
there is a new vista driver, but from the first time it does not install in my XP (i need to install previous version first -december 2003-....)

PS: i will post metsfan's reply:
the way that i fixed the issue with the L and R buttons is you need to set the mode to digital mode, and then it will recognize it as a click rather than a slider.
-end-

That's right..... BUT, as soon you boot the PC, or plug the adapter
it starts in ANALOG MODE.......

is there a workaround to this issue?

because, i need to press Start for 3 secs in control panel... and THEN, start to play Project64..... :S

None that I know of.
Besides that, putting it into digital mode and you can't use the sliders at all because they register as a single button.

Hi guys,

Been away from the emu scene for a long time, but came back after the arrival of Mupen64Plus - working really nicely on my Linux box!

It's been a while since I last used the "Super Joy Box 13", I still have one and still think it's one of the best.

Sorry for almost a year's delay and digging up this old thread (shoulda had email notifications on damnit!), but I've uploaded the "Version 2" driver here for you to try:

Good luck

Lol necropost, but you acknoweledged it, so I dunno what to do.
Anywho, I still use the drivers from the floppy (the ones on the site for XP were FUBAR) and to get it to read the "clicking button press" push the L or R button all the way down (without clicking), click the button in the plugin config, then press the L or R button the rest of the way down (so it clicks). It's a lot easier than slamming it really fast.
