I guess I was confusing the forced restart with a crash. I get a prompt with strange symbols (likely due to foreign translation support).....

You got me there!

Well, even though the emulator has been translated to english, those little messageboxes stayed japanese.

You can stop the error messages from being in Japanese by opening the file named Default that appears in the Message folder with Notepad (or somiliar program)and deleting the word Japanese and then saving the file. Now all messages will be in English.

Hey guys, new to the board here. I just got SSF R2', but I still cannot run a Dragon Force image. I have it in CUE/BIN and iso. I'm burned the image to a CD and mounted in to a virtual drive. I have tried Cassini, Satourne, Giri Giri and SSF. SSF will load up the Sega Saturn CD player and the start application button will be available. When I select that, the sega logo pops up as it does when a game starts to load, but then the emulator pops me back into the CD player. Any suggestions?

Change the region of the emulator to match the game's... if you haven't tried that already, that is.

The region is correct. If I change the region to another region, the saturn CD player screen tells me that the disc is unsuitable for this system.

When you mount the game or put the disc in the CD-ROM drive, does Windows Explorer display the disc's contents properly (i.e. not just audio tracks)?

Actually, I had a similar problem with Guardian Heroes a long time ago, but I haven't been able to test that game with the latest SSF.

It was tested on R13':

Dragon Force

EUR & USA

Perfect (musics problem)

I do not know if musics probelm is resolve right now on R2. So, it is perfectly playable, yes.

when I look at the CD or the virtual drive in Windows Explorer I see a bunch of folders that look like game elements (e.g. Body, CPK, Event, Game, etc...) and some other files that look like game elements as well (e.g. Disc_ABS, Disc_cpy, Disc_bib [those three are text files], sddrv.tsk, etc...). I am not sure if that is what I'm supposed to see, but intuitively it seems correct. I've never tried burning any kind of CD game (Saturn, PS), but this may be what happens if you don't have a MOD chip. I could be wrong, but just a random thought. I thank you very much the time you have taken to try to help me out, and I will continue to try anything else you may suggest. So thanks :)

Rockmangames,
I do not doubt that it is supposed to work. I figure it is something that I'm not doing. Either that or the iso's are bad, although I have gotten them from Coolrom.com, emuparadise and I don't remember where I got the third, but they are all different sources with the same result. Any suggestions?

Well, and I'm not sure if you will answer this, but the pickings are slim nowadays. Can you give me any hints as to how/where to look for a credible iso?
