SPDIF out jack to 5.1ch input

Hi I was wondering if anybody could help me with the following.

I have an ASUS A7JC Media Centre Notebook which has an SPDIF Output Jack (1/8 inch).

I also have an amplifier which has both 2.1 ch input and 5.1 ch input (6 red/white rca inputs).

What i'd like to know is if its possible to connect my single SPDIF output into the 6 5.1ch inputs?

You'd need an external converter/decoder. Not sure where you'd find one or how much it would cost, but I suspect it would be cheaper to buy a new receiver (which supports that type of input).

thanks for that, i suspected that might be the case.


Any recomendations on receivers? Ideally i'd like a receiver that will accept most input types (Optical, Digital Audio in, etc)
