This is a possible solution for sound and FPS problems. Esp with SoundBlaster.
I have looked at the forums for my problem but have no solution has worked, and the creators seem to not know what the problem is. I have used all Plug-in combinations, options and defrag with no change.
While playing any game while using P64, at anypoint when the amount of sound increases (not volume about amount) the games sound begins to stutter and then the FPS drops to about 30-35. However if the P64 is played without sound then the FPS is steady around 57-60, even on Perfect Dark and Zelda:MM!
It has to be said that I can run both Nemu64 and 1964 with no emulation problems bar one (Blastcorps won't work on Nemu64?!). I have also tried out the plug-ins that came with the P64 service pack! with these emulators. No problems arose.
To be frank, the designers were considering that the people who had this stuttering because of slow processors, but how can someone with a P4 1.0 run more games than someone with a P4 1.6.

History lesson, a couple of years ago I decided to try a few old Pre-1996 DOS games, as some of you may know these games are very hard to run on Winxp. However one of the main reasons for this is due to the computer running the game TOO FAST.
When certain games are sped up, the sounddriver can not handle the information. This leads to the sound card trying to catch-up which leads to the stuttering. Since the sound driver requires more data, more processor usage is needed and the game slows down.
This happens on, example, X-COM Apocolepse.
THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM ON P64.
Due to this problem, the makers of "VMWare Workstation" (an O.S. emulator) created and released the VDMSound.

This emulates the sound, and no it does not work for P64. At least not for me. Probely due to the fact that P64 is Win based (is it 32bit?)
How ever I do feel this is the problem, as such another solution may work. One of the older work arounds was to slow down the game so the the sound card is not over worked. There are programs on the net that can slow down programs by percentage, one is called MoSlo.

However it is no longer free-to-use. But an older version can be downloaded.
Another is CPUKILLER, but I have not tried it yet.
So, I like to ask the developers to add an option to run the emulator at ONE SPEED, NO MATTER the processor speed. Unlikely since the last up-date was so long ago. But who knows, maybe this thread will make them look at some of the problems in a new light.
On last fact, the problems with games running to fast are mostly associated with the SoundBlaster family.
