none of you know real music, how many people here have heard of finch, how about taproot, some new found glory, maybe home grown, how bout TRUSTcompany? THATS real music, not michelle branch or alanis, they suck

Heard of them all but one actually, new found glory is ok but not something I'd want to buy. Taproot, Finch and Home Grown suck. Never heard of TRUSTcompany.

"I thought I was in for something special, but it only sounds like all other pop songs on the MTV."
The difference? Manufactured talent v.s. real, actual talent; a singer who actually writes her own material, plays her own instruments, hasn`t been packaged and sold off by record companies (long may she continue) and can sing extremely well live. Michelle with an acoustic guitar alone beats a multi-million dollar Britney `performance` and about every other solo artist out there dead. I`m still waiting for the first MTV-owned bands to appear... lets face it, it`s the most obvious next step for manufacturers.
Which reminds me, there is a way cool acoustic version of `All You Wanted` on Kazaa these days (around 2.7mb)... just y`know, as a recommendation. ;)

I just heard Goodbye To You for the first time on the radio, thats an awsome song. If you listen carefully it has alternate meanings. Its clever songs with subtle nuances, a good singing voice and a good rythem like that which makes good songs.

I also have to say, until her, I've never heard a song I liked from her age group. Most people that age cant come up with lyrics like that.

Well, I like her music, but, sadly, I've heard it too much on the radio, and I'm already tired of it (as it is often the case for me with music that is too often broadcasted on the radio).

When it comes to female songwriter, I prefer Susan Vega (the best scene performance I've seen so far. She was almost alone on stage with her guitar and a bassist. It was a incredible hour) and Ann Pierlé (a Belgian artist, I don't think that she's known outside of Belgium. Her first album is wild, I haven't listened to the second yet)

About my gnereal musical taste, I like Dave Matthews Band (too bad he's only touring in the US), The Divine Comedy, Radiohead, Ben Harper, Björk and many more.
But I can enjoy a haevy metal concert, or some (even 'experimental') electronic music (noise...). Some weeks ago I went at a friend's to listen to some concrete music (kind of sound landscapes, made out of samples of any noise you can imagine, water, clapping doors, mixed without any effect). I went there, curious, and actually loved it :).
At parties I love to dance on what I would consider shit otherwise: the dance/soul/pop stuff you hear on MTV. In such cases, I even like the 'Wannabe' from the Spice Girls, or some crappy Britney tunes.

`I`d Rather Be In Love` is a fantastic song. I`m also quite partial to `Sweet Misery`... of course I encourage everyone again to head over to cdwow and order a genuine copy of "The Spirit Room" album for dirt-cheap pricing...

SHE WON! Woohoo! Some recognition at last... and a huge amount of message-board related voting going on via michellebranch.net helped! ;)
Now all we need is for these stupid people in the UK to acknowledge her existence.
