Some shameless, irrelevant Michelle Branch promotion...

Okay... my reasons for doing this are pretty simple. I`m doing my bit and `promoting` the wonderfully talented singer Michelle Branch everywhere I know.
So many people seem not to know who she is, and this just isn`t right! Michelle is a 19-year old American girl (I forgot very hot)who amazingly in these days of Britney and Eminem and other dross, actually writes very honestly and performs her own songs and plays guitar (and a lot of other instruments)... sort of rock/pop tunes, but very catchy..
Okay, I`ll cut to the point - anyone who has read this far, please visit HERE and hit "play it forward". I urge everyone to at *least* listen to the song "All You Wanted" a couple of times. She has such a rarely fantastic voice. Then of course go over to your nearest online shop and buy either the singles "Everywhere" and "All You Wanted" or the great album "The Spirit Room". UK`ers can obtain it for a mere £8.99 total at www.cdwow.com
Go on... support GOOD music!
/end promotion

I know you knew who she was, which is impressive in itself... not a lot of people do. Well... unless you remind them she played "Goodbye To You" on this season of Buffy ;)
I dunno, I just feel obliged to let people hear her stuff and help her out in a way. It`s probably hard for some people to admit to liking these kind of songs especially on here but hey, if I push a single person into doing so and possibly even buying a single/album of hers, I`ll be very happy. Really can`t go wrong with `The Spirit Room` for £8.99... and All You Wanted is her current UK single for people looking for a `trial` CD. It`s also one of, and possibly her very best song(s). The `Play It Forward` email-type player thing is a great idea in itself (and one of Michelle`s own ideas which is even neater!)... and can I just add that anyone who even slightly likes any of the songs on it should email it on to their friends as a recommendation. Please..? Someone out there support her with me! Save decent music while we still can! ;)

I love her music, I'm a big critic when it comes to music so thats a big compliment to her coming from me. Shes actually one of the few vocalists of that style I like. I usually listen to groups like Linkin Park, Nickelback, Creed, and Default among others, but occasionally a good singer like Michelle Branch comes along.

right now she is the BEST female singer / song writer out there. up there with Alanis. her first album ROCKS and so does the second. i recomend that you ALL download "Washing Machine" or "Second Chances" and LISTEN TO THEM ALL DAY. then go to MichelleBranch.net and BUY that album because she DESERVES ALL the money the album is worth and then some. when i first heard "Everywhere" i thought, wow this chick is gonna blow up huge. then i was watching Buffy and i hear this song and im like, this song is NICE. and then i SEE it's her playing so i bought the album the next day. I'm telling you ALL who think Vanessa Caralton is good that Michelle is better. i only compare them because everyone else does but it's a fact. musiclly and lyricly Michelle ROX!!!!

Alanis whines, for example:

Alanis: "wah wah wah, I split up with my boyfriend, wah wah wah, I'll be on acid whilst on stage, wah wah wah!"
/me yawns

edit:

I'll check them out when I get home tonight

Yes... I do believe I`m about to give in to stupidly high bank charges and import her first album Broken Bracelet too..! Now, everyone else head over to cdwow and order The Spirit Room. Then get the Play It Forward player fired off to everyone you know.
And I have nothing but respect for anyone who hates Alanis as much as I do. ;)

I`d also like to add that even though I don`t seem to have everyone`s opinions here yet (and any of you who haven`t given them please do so), I posted an identical topic on no less than four other boards. The general idea was to promote the music, but it has also proved a strange experiment on how different types of people are open to new thoughts/ideas being given.

The result I`d have expected would be something like this (in order of assumed most accepting that they`d at least try Michelle`s music - or open-mindedness if you will)...
1. (My favourite actress`s) message board.
2. QOTD forum (Anne Rice / vampire related).
3. This place.
4. A `Green Day` board (punks are at least meant to be broad-minded).
5. A film/movie related board.

The actual results...
1. This place!
2. (Actress X`s) board.
3. Film/movie board.
4. QOTD forum.
5. Green Day.

This kind of scared me slightly. In all honesty I`m most disappointed that the QOTD forum ranked so low. For a mostly female population, you would`ve expected more support toward a female musician. Most of the comments however were pretty much "sorry, she`s not (insert-preferred-genre-here)" and to the effect they wouldn`t even give it a listen because of that. Not exactly the open-mindedness you`d expect from people willing to take the idea of vampires and other such things, is it? I thought these people would at least understand where I was coming from.
The Green Day board was a disaster of epic proportions and this *really* got to me at first. For people who are supposed `punks` and with the certain level of open-mindedness that at least should entail, these people took any suggestion they might try something different and outside of their usual genre extremely badly... though given the obvious population of little rich `punker-than-thou` (wannabe) brats with too much time and big mouths on that board these days it was a little easier to accept - the fact the board seems to shed old members very quickly now seems to point to signs of that anyway.
The film/movie board was a slightly more mixed reception, though most at least tried it and could understand why it was likeable music. All at least appreciated her talent.
The (actress) board, was predictably favourable. They`ve always struck me as cool people for the most part, so I wasn`t surprised by this.
But, yes, for me the most shocking of all has been... right here! A very pleasant surprise... I expected at least thinly-veiled mocking and such given that certain brands of music are well-established favourites here, but the fact that those who`ve responded so far have been positive or at least willing to give it a shot and listen before making up their minds has really impressed me. So, Emutalk already seems to have won my unintended "Open-Minded" board award.
And anyone who hasn`t tried Michelle`s music yet to comment, please do so. I really am finding this a pretty interesting diversion.
