Some help needed

Hi, I'm new here. Finally found a place to get help with PJ64:bouncy:

My first issue is graphics when playing Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense. In the menus there is pink and green snow in places. During the game all explosions are black squares instead of animation. Don't know if it's the ROM or the settings on PJ64. Settings are all default though I did try playing with them but when nothing worked I figured I'd ask the pros here.

Second issue is my roms won't save due to no memory pack, how do I save my games?

I'm using a HP Pavillion zv6000 Laptop with an AMD Athelon Chip ~2.0Ghz, 512 RAM. Unsure of the Video specs but I play many current games like Battlefield 2142, and Age of Empires 3 so it should be fine for N64 games right? The plugins that came with Project64 are just the Jabo's Plugins so if another one is better for V8:2 please let me know.

Thanks for taking the time to read my thread.

2nd issue fix - Tell it there's a mempak attached to the controller in the controller config options where the dropdown menu is below the Plugged In checkbox

I knew the memory pack thing would be easy, thanks Aeon.

What video plugin would you reccomend for Vigilante 8? Do any video plugins work with V8 or is emulation pretty much impossible? I love that game and haven't played since the N64 died a few years back.

IIRC, Vigilante 8 is one of those games that has problems with every graphics plugin out there. Try Glide64 though.

Trying to try it, started another thread cause I can't seem to get any plugins to work.

Glide64 is officially worse for V8 than the default plugin, even after trying out different settings. What would be the next plugin to try? Or was that my best bet?

Is it the way the games were made that makes them difficult to emulate, or are these games just not popular enough to put the time into making them compatible with any plugins?

It's just the way it's designed, like the Star Wars titles, it's just very hard to emulate them. Like Resident Evil 2 and Dark Rift, they needed a lot work, but are already emulated really good.

Well Star Wars and RE2 and the like were later games that pretty much pushed the N64 to its limits of power. Maybe this weird graphical mess is better in the Future 1.7 maybe its not who knows.

You could always try a different emulator but frankly PJ64 is #1 with a bullet :):bouncy:

OH and BF2142 and AoE3 aren't that Hugely graphically intensive
Now if you can run UAW:EA on Max settings and have no lag in an online match with THAT game then yeah you shouldn't have a SINGLE problem with anything heh
