so i have the game cd and chankast...

hey guys, i'm new to dreamcast emulation,and i'm hoping someone could help me out get started.

i have chankast downloaded, however, I would like to know how to create an ISO using my dreamcast game cd and then use that file to play the game without the cd

if someone could provide me with a link that would help me out, or just explain it to me in a post, i would really appreciate it, thanks!



p.s. i have done a fair bit of research and am still clueless as to how this works...

Look, if you have an original dreamcast game, it would be a little bit complicated to make the copy by yourselft... you need a special serial cable to conect your dreamcast consolo with your computer, and some programs, personally i don't understand the whole, it too technical for me... :) Note that in this case you also need your console, the cable and some boot cd and other programs you must download from the web.
But if you already have a backup on CD and it boots by itselft on your real console (no utopia or boot disc required), all you have to do is maka a CD backup with any program you like (nero, discjuggler, cdrwin, clonecd, alcohol, you name it).
If you have a game backup which need another boot cd, then you will have to do backup on your computer, and then make your new image selfbootable for chankast to work with it..
You can read a lot about this topic in the forums, i recomend exoskeletor program... it easy to use...

hmmm....i kinda lost you there.

here's my story:
I have the actual game cd...the retail cd you buy at any store. I am wondering do I just have to make a back-up in order to play it on chankast...or is there more than that? like creating a self-bootable...is this required if i own the actual game?

Let me clarify it for you. The PC cannot read real Dreamcast Disc. If you have the money and time, you can buy one of those cable which connect your dreamcast and PC and get file out. Many people people would simply download the cd image from the internet.
