Snowboard Kids 2 (can't start a race)

Right before I can choose my character, I get an endless loop error (which I can get around using a save state), but once I select my track and board, I get a blank screen. The race never starts. I have two different ROMS (both US) and they both have the same problem. Any ideas?

Both roms are bad, please use goodn64 to verify and read about the use of goodn64 at Smiff's Support Site (Utilities for roms)

Known issue, self mod. code handling method.

Must set self mod. code handling method to at least
"Check Memory and Cache".

Hmm

It already was "Check memory and cache". I also tried all of the other options and none of them change what happens.

Is it really so hard to install GoodN64 to make sure your rom is ok? You might even be able to fix the rom once you identified it with GoodN64.
