the old guy
you should post in the programming section of the forum , then someone could help get you started. Or you could just read some of the posts from others who were starting.

I'm not doing this out of ego , I'm here because I felt I could offer input
on the subject of emulators and what they need to run on Nvidia cards
No, I meant that you write typically "I'm better than anyone!" That's ego.
And btw, most emulators DO run fine on geforce cards.
Anyway, good luck.

I've discovered that it's not really the emulators I should attempt to change
because that hard work is already good , I think it's a matter of wanting
directx 9 functionality in a video plugin due to the fact that the 6800Ultra
is a directx 9 compliant piece of hardware ...

I don't like the idea of being told what I can and can't do
with hardware I own.

as far as claims of being better than anyone in the area of electronics and software , I don't profess to be greater than them , but I don't deny my talent in those areas because I have many years of experience in them
and possess an associates degree in electronics engineering along with
8 years in the field , If you ask me I feel like electronics and software
are a basic function of a persons life because it's a requirement in todays
environment.

While electronics and software are not tought in school as one of the
three R's , reading writting and arithmatic ( pardon any misspelling )
I feel they damn well should be ...

I'm reading like a mad man over here looking for anything that
will improve the quality of the jabo's D3D8 1.6 video plugin
for Nvidia users , as that is allowed by the rules.

Thats in addition to my regular study of the intire emulation catagory.

I wish to keep my emotional thoughts completely out of the equation.

Yes, yes, whatever... even though you are good, plugins are still a complicated piece of hardware. But if you can pull it off, then I wish to be happy for you.
I doubt you are going to get jabo's source. Either you start your own plugin or use an open source one.

Nobody is telling you to do anything. If you want people to believe you, you must prove it. We're not just going to take your word for it, we're not as gullable as you think.

By all means, prove to yourself and us you can do it if you want, but I honestly don't care for people who come here and all they do is say "Hey I can update source, I can do this, I can do that". I can do a lot of things too, do you see me bragging?

Most plugin developers like Jabo, Rice and others try to have compatibility for several types of hardware, Jabo's plugin runs just as well on my card as it does on any nvidia card so you shouldn't just completely dismiss ATI cards just because you don't own one, but that is up to yourself.

Do what you want, However unless Jabo updates his plugin the quality you get now is never going to change. Jabo keeps his source private, he hasn't even released the source for the audio plugin. I don't even think the quality is bad it is among the best you can get.

It's been another long night of sifting through the backwaters of the internet
looking for emulators and roms to run on them , it's like I have to learn everything all over again because when I was doin this stuff windows 98 was the latest OS ...

Quicky about the Nature of the ROM Files
1. N64 is Moterola Big Indian File Format
2. Little Indian is MS File Format

I'm not allowed to talk about anything but Project 64 and it's "default"
plugins ...

And I know how much people hate when the topic goes off.

SO in that catagory I can only report that the situation remains
neutral as I take a look at what I can do and can't do in reguards to
any programming for project 64 , wich falls back under the catagory of codeing.

I've addressed myself to the Programming Section in hopes that I can
hook up with veterans in this area and get more information about
what can and can't be done.

As for everyones kind input I'm very greatfull for the ability to share
whats going on ... I'm gathering screenshots to illiustrate the differences in plugins wich is totaly within the rules I hope ?

What does everyone think about doing that ?

Isn't it 'Endian' - and I really don't think it's the MS format. I stand corrected if someone points out otherwise.

I've said before and I'll say again - of course you can. We just don't want useless bug reports of plugins where they are nothing to do with the emulator. You can of course mention plugins in passing, or within the context of another post to demonstrate a point.

Yep, and it can be helpful too.

I suggest you learn programming first, then worry about learning how to emulate the processors in the N64.

I think you misunderstand what the zilmer specification is. It is a protocol for communication between plugins and emulator cores. Without it, plugins would be specific to the emulator you're using them on, rather than being able to work on multiple emulators.

Good thinking powerlord , I was unaware of exactly what
the zimler specification is . any more such information would
be helpfull and appreciated.

Trotter - http://williams.comp.ncat.edu/Endian.htm

I wanted to post some screen shots but there seems to be no way
to brows to a file for upload. when I click on insert image this dialogue
box comes up.

Enter the text to be formated.

wich makes absolutely no sense what so ever to me.

any ideas ?

I think you may be having some posting trouble there sir_eot, you've got 3 same posts, don't worry just hit edit and delete two of em'

If you want to attach a screenshot you have to click "manage attachments", there a dialog is supposed to show up. click Browse there, find the image on your computer and press upload, wait until its done and close that window.

I'll delete them for him :)

Not sure why you've pointed out an explanation of Big/Little Endian for me - my point of conjecture was you calling it Big Indian > note the I, and saying it was a Microsoft thing.

My personal thanks for cleaning up my posts , there was a delay yesterday
when I would click save changes , so I couldn't tell if things were going through or not.

I don't even worry about anything when dealing with you trotter
your a wise individual with lots goodies to share...

the Edian or Indian link was to help confirm it's indeed "indian"

In my Tools64 v1.11 it shows three different formats for roms
Big Indian , Little Indian and Byteswap

Big Indian is moterola , Little Indian is microsoft file format
with the most significant bit last.

The term big indian was barrowed from Gullivers Travels ...

It's always fassinated me to discover such things that every day people
dont' get to see or are to busy ...

Soon will come the day when there are no more working black and white televisions , think how far we've progressed

by the way , I think I need help posting screen shots because I don't
seem to understand how to post them ...

I would like to post a couple of side by side shots of jabos D3D8 1.6
compared to Rice Beta 10 ... in compare fassion not bug list fassion :)

so that it can be seen visualy whats going on .. maybe it will incite the authors to acction.

HAHA trotter it's not you it's me , a recent bout with depression may be to
blame ... your absolutely 100% correct , it's indeed ( Endian ) and not ( Indian )

I can't even believe such a mistake was made but things like that happen
not to worry were both straight on that now...

Thats ANOTHER reason to give you credit where it's due trotter
our minds are wired differently , and I have that condition I mentioned
that requires medication , also causeing me to filter things incorrectly.

wich makes it difficult in group situations , because it makes me out to
be stupid or ignorant , wich I'm not but it can seem that way.

I do wish I had what you seem to possess in abundance trotter
and thats raw ability to see smaller details properly...

I think it a matter of trying harder ... or I need to pay attention and
think of things in smaller building blocks.

Again I'm in amazement because your the type of person I strive to be like
trotter... apparently successfull , secure in your position...

I'm retired because of mental illness , but if I could be someone else
I would like to be more like you.
