How do I set the speech language on this? Its the one with the ripped out japanese speech, so I only get the japanese stuff in cutscenes. English is much easier, then I can ditch the subtitles

Also, the texture glitches in this game are some of the best (if you can call it that) i've seen. Ryos transparent hair, a naked policemen, a man with a face on the back of his head and zebra-print tyres on Joys bike. Wayhey!

Well if your version is missing japanese speech, then it might be missing other stuff to -- just so that it could fit onto a damn cd Your best bet is to find a different version.

Correct me if I am wrong (and I may well be), but I don't think the English version of Shenmue II for the Dreamcast ever had English voices.

Well, I wasnt entirely sure either but after reading the Echelon .nfo for Shenmue 2;

"Rip Notes:

All of the CDs had the Japanese speech ripped. There was no way to
fit this on, and as you will see, most of the CDs fit very tightly
without it. This only affects the in game speech, you will still
have speech in the cut scenes.

CD1:

- 1 CDDA track was ripped. We are not sure where this is used and
it would most probably not play anyway. Besides that and the
Japanese speech, nothing else is ripped from this CD. You have
all of the Multi-Language files on this CD: French, German,
and Spanish. This is the only CD that we had space to keep the
Multi-Language files on, so you can basically only try the game
out in a different language; but not play it through. Make sure
you switch the language back to English prior to finishing CD1
so you can resume your game...."

After reading it again it doesnt explicitly say that it has English speech, just English Multi-language files, which I guess is the subtitles. Bit of a pity if it doesnt have English speech, but it feels more "right" in Japanese anyway.

i have the original copy of shenmue 2 but people sorry to let you know its japanese with the english text options.

I too have the original Shenmue 2 (And 1 for that matter) and to save cash they left the original japenese voices in Shenmue 2 and subtitled it which I much much prefer. The voice acting in shenmue was questionable at times anyway (I see! Do you know where sailors go? etc.). The xbox version has english voices (They seem to have the same people back to do the voices from shenmue 1) but of course that's not why we are here.
