I was just fiddling with settings in my BIOS and generally doing stuff I'm not supposed to do, when I selected an option my computer restarted and made very unhealthy beeping noices and failed to show anything on screen at all - wouldn't boot or anything.
I panicked and though my comp was done for and I'd have to pay for expensive repairs. As a last ditch effort to save my comp, I opened my motherboard manual and it just happened to open on a page about resetting the CMOS to default. I thought 'that's it!' but I read that I had to connect to (very small) jumpers on my mainboard to do it. Still not really knowing what I was doing at all, I looked around for a conductor of some kind, and after trying a teaspoon (didn't work) I tried my PC case side panel screw. Holding it on the two tiny connectors, I turned on my comp.
Lo and behold, my computer booted up! I was so relieved!
I'm such a n00b!
