Does anyone know when Fabien Autrel plans to release the exellent looking update to satourne? he has the whole saturn emulation fans drooling with anticipation. Or does anyone have a beta teat version of it?

lol

CKemu betatests it but his computer just broke down or something. And he seems to be more preoccupied with PCSX2 too (which looks a lot more promising the Satourne anyway). Try asking at the Satourne forums, or wait till Runik comes here and tells you more.

Fabien will release the next version when he thinks it's ready. Right now he still has some little things to correct. I have the beta, and it works great, even without the dynarec.
I'm going to post some screenshots about this version in the dedicated thread.

Thanks for letting me know. im not trying to hassle you but, in your opinion would you say the beta of satourne v2.0 is the best saturn emu there is?

All that I'm interested in, is the question: Is the new Satourne going to be faster than SSF or otherwise better?

SSF doesn't work on my computer, so I can't compare them :(
All I can say is that Fabien is working hard to improve speed (which is already great IMHO), and that his MMX dynarec will be a great step in that direction ...
I also know that some saturn feature (like linescroll) are implemented in girigiri, but not in Satourne (I don't know SSF status on this). This feature allows to display a clear Capcom logo in Street Fighter Collection for example ...

How exactly does that linescroll work? I don't have SF Collection close by to check. The SSf main site doesn't mention anything about the lack of such effect so I would guess it's there. It handles other effects like Mosaic effect fine while no other emu does so there would be no point in that one missing, of course I could be wrong.

Satourne will most likely be a lot faster then SSF as it runs in OpenGL while SSF is pure software.

Linescroll, as its names suggests, scrolls separately each horizontal line at a certain amount. I think the same thing exists for vertical lines. I haven't checked this feature indepth as it's really a pain in the ass to implement, so it generally ends at the bottom of the todo list ...

The Capcom logos show up without any particular effect on them on SF Collection (japanese ver) on both girigiri and SSF, so I can't tell - it's just a fadein-fadeout.
