hey ... i've read many posts on this and other forums about direct 3d device creation error in dolphin x64 under x64 os .. i just want to ask how many people are using x64 os and do not complain or are able to use dolphin emu and play comercial games ... then who has a problem ?? and why is it happening hehe ... someone wrote in other thread, when he runs it on 32bit os it runs without a crash but has 6 fps so it generaly sucks ! (i've got the same thing) now i'm running the same drivers on both systems with the diference that some are for 32 and other for 64 bit os but thats obvious , everything is up to date ... why no one can help with solving this problem ??? there just gotta be the way right, if others can run it ??

In general, 64-bit Windows has driver issues. Either because companies don't care to write 64-bit compatible drivers or do shoddy recompiles of the 32-bit drivers for 64-bit. Considering that 64-bit users are using a very different version of Dolphin than 32-bit users, it also makes sense that one of them would have more problems than the other...

I also have that problem, i recently installed Vista x64... and i get the same message "Direct3d Device Creation Failed"... How come other people doesn't have that problem? Do I need to install something? Because my computer is "supernew" I haven't installed anything except Dolphin and a securitysystem, do I need to download some DirectX thing or C++?

Vista is shipped with DirectX10 and he certainly needs graphics card drivers of some sort in order to run vista in the first place.

Vista might be shiped with directx 10 but it might not have the required directx 9 .dll file that is needed........just do a directx update and ur problem should be solved :bouncy:

just incase you don't understand..... there is a number of diffrent directx 9 .dll files that diffrent games use..... like call of duty 4 uses d3dx9_34.dll so maybe dolphin x64 uses d3dx9_36.dll?? just a thought lol

If hat would be the case, then Dolphin would show an error message that said DLL file is missing. Besides, all versions of DirectX are backwards compatible, and some even forwards compatible.

As it were, even though I have Vista 64, I still had to install Direct-X 9. And I also had to search the net for NVidia-specific video drivers (instead of the generic microsoft drivers) before Dolphin would work.

i think its the plugins min wasnt working so i was playing around with it and changed some stuff in the plugins then i tried but it had the 3d creation thing so i changed it back and it didnt have that problem butit still dosent work for me :(

go to plugins, then go to GFX plugin settings, then go to Direct3D, for graphics card use ATI Radeon X1270, for Device type use HAl (hardware Accelerated), then for use shader ver. use PS 2.0, for Resolution use 640X480, for antialias use mode no antialiasing. this might get rid of that error for you but it might not be able to play the game.

I get the same problem, but only when I turn up anti-aliasing to the highest setting. Slightly odd while it may be, try messing around with the settings and see whether it works!
