In my opinion, N64 is pretty lacking in these departments. I own Quest 64, which is the only thing I've seen that could be called an RPG, but its simplicity astounds me. Of course in the adventure realm we have the Zelda games, OOT ranking still my favorite of the series. Recently I tried out (and finished) Hercules, but other than some funny dialogue, it was filled with overly simplistic gameplay and a broken combat system.

So does anybody know of any good games in these genres? Something with a very attractive story, keeping you interested, or maybe with an inventory (with useful purchasable items), equipment, and some strategic fighting? Maybe an experience point system? There must be some game out there that I just never noticed that turned out pretty effective in this genre.

Paper Mario is probably (one of) the best RPG's on N64. In my opinion a very good RPG also!

Then there's Aidyn Chronicles, Ogre Battle, Shadowgate 64...

Have fun,

Shadowgate is an Adventure game and Ogre Battle is more like a strategy game with some RPG elements than an RPG. Damn, N64 was really a miss on this genre. :p

Paper Mario... how on earth did I forget that? I own it. I think it's because my brain classifies it as "mario" rather than "rpg" lol.

I thought about Harvest Moon, but it really isn't the style I had in mind. I mean, I like more of a story oriented traveling adventure, lots of exploring, and needs some combat. I might try it anyway, since I did play the SNES one.

But I have to try Aidyn Chronicles... and this Hybrid Heaven I guess. Never heard of that one, I don't think.
