Hey, Cid is right, and another thing, the guy didn't say that he doesn't owns the game, he said that it doesn't run on chaskast, everybody here knows that those echelon releases with one of the intros doesn't boot on chaskast (there's an intro which actually boot, the one which look tainted red). with that answer would be enought. Anybody here can be sure if he actually owns that game or not, so why to blame him... and in other hand, the guy is not obligated to have the thechnical knowlegde to dump the game for himselft, if that was to easy, everybody could did it and didn't have to enter these forum to ask...
I own some games and an old dreamcast, but I don't know how to dump it for myselft, so I download from internet... althought i have read it about i didn't understant to much... and i don't know how to make to godly and miracle cable..... and i don't want it to buy from some extrange chinesse company which claim to sell it a pre-builded one either... talking about the games it not going to hurt anybody, nor the company who made them neither anybody here.. just don't post link to the site and that's all... you don't have to jump up and make such despective acusation based on inconfirmed theories...

It's good that everyone has pointed out the fact that just because someone has a ripped copy, it does not mean that they don't own the real thing. I got 3 different versions of Skies Of Arcadia, one of which is original. If it were not for the Chankast emulator and everyone here then DC games will eventually disappear. All DC's will eventually die. Then no-one will be able to play any of the games. At least this way they are preserved forever on a much more future-proof system, even if it is not the system the developer's intended the games to be on. Emulator's (including this one) and the people who work on them are extremely important, especially if you want to show your kids the games you grew up on.3x3cUt0r said:
If a PC user was after a free game, then there are plenty of games for PC which are more technically advanced, don't require an emulator, are easier to get going etc....Don't ya think this would be more attractive to a warez hound rather than a game that's many years old for a system that is past it's day only to play it on an emulator that's buggy. Remember, no-ones making any money here. We are just interested in playing all our old games, and preserving them for future generations to play. Most of the people working on this goal (myself included) are doing this because we love the DC, and the games, not because we're after a freebie. We should all be thankful for this, not spiteful. I don't see Sega (or any of the original developers) helping do this emulation, so I can't see any problem with other people doing it. If you own the game, then you are entitled to play it.
That would not be a good move either. I have no problem with the buying of the game, but if we all start using real DC's, then where is the incentive for Chankast developer's to continue their work. DC is not future-proof. Nope. The general idea is, if the system is dying, move all your stuff to a new system which is not dying. Either that, or it's gonna go down just like the Titanic did. You would start to see a rapidly reducing user-base for these games. Give it around 10 years, and most of these games would be near on impossible to find. If we all thought like this, Chankast would not exist, and neither would this forum. Do a goddamn search for stuff before you start asking for help!!! Jesus, how many times does this have to be said on EVERY SINGLE FORUM TO EVER EXIST before people catch on????

I have searched the internet for about three hours today. I got pretty mad because I am not able to play the echelon releases in chankast. I found on megagames.com an article of how to backup dc games and how to remove intros.
Use a Hex Editor (for example Hex Workshop 32) and (I tested it with DOA2LE - but I have a problem too - but this part is correct for SURE) just open the 1st_read.bin.
Then remove about 900kb of data at the beginning. Ok - I somehow didn't manage to do this. And thats why I do not know. I seem to have the correct file size (in the tutorial on that page it is said that the file should be 1,9mb in size - and my file is exactly as the value given in the tutorial).
My problem is that I do not know how to replace the file in the CDI with the one I have modified and whether it is the only file that should be replaced or whether there are also other files (IP.BIN?) which should be changed.
If someone could possibly tell me how to edit the CDI (without having to burn it onto a real medium) I would be very happy :bouncy:
