Resizing using TV-Out

HTAFC will rise again!!!
Sorry Eagle, i know you closed the previous thread but ive not quite finished...

When using TV-Out is it possible to resize the screen on the TV as its either too big or too small depending on the resolution I choose.

Also is it possible to have the monitor and TV working at the same time?

Hercules Geforce 3 Ti 200

Resize: You need tv-tool.
Both working at the same time? You need a ntsc or pal 60 hz tv and use dual-mode as well as fix your monitor settings after enbling tv-out in tv tool OR use nvidia's nview, but then you cannot resize the tv screen.

Is this because if you have to have the screens running at the same Hz and normal TV's are 50 Hz which most monitors cannot go down too?

If this is the case I don't think I will be able to get both working at the same time and im not buying a new TV

Again thanks a lot, you've been most helpful! :)

No prob, I closed the other one cause I wanted to prevent either me or AlphaWolf from continuing the argument and saying something we would both regret. Sometimes I get caught up in things like that, which really dont matter and I have to step back and decide to let it go ^_^

The nvidia included drivers can have both the tv and monitor work at the same time without making both have the same refresh rate, so your monitor can work at its normal refresh rate. (In fact, they don't even have to have the same resolution, you can do that virtual desktop thingie on the tv. Not very good for games, but when you play your games, just be in 800x600 or lower.)

Just play around with it, its in the nview settings somewhere, I've done it several times.

That is the main reason I don't use tvtool, because my monitor is not very good at displaying refresh rates that low. (well, that and tvtool can't automaticaly enable tvout when I close the lid on my laptop)

As i said, the nvidia drivers are probably the best. They cannot resize your destop by scaling, but increasing/decreasing resolution. If you get a black/white screen, try "s-video out" option there. If there is none (look around), then you'd better use tv tool.

The thing is that tv tool outputs the monitor directly to tv. That is, same refresh rate and same resolution. So if your tv only supports 50 hz, then your monitor will use 50 hz as well, which is *very* irritating for the eyes, believe me.

I noticed it is outputting straight to the TV using TV tool becasue when using the TV if you goto Right Click>Properties>Settings then it still says Geforce 3 Ti 200 on Dell. But while using the Nvidia drivers it changes it to Geforce 3 Ti 200 on Default Monitor.

I think im going to use TV tool, cheers everyone!
