Was all too excited when I downloaded Chankast. Finally, Ikaruga on my PC! However was saddened when I realised my laptop wasn't l33t enough to run the game smoothly. I experience missing textures and generally slow gameplay, issues I safely assume have to do with my system specs, no?

Was thinking of trying it out on my desktop, but not too sure whether it would be a waste of time. My desktop specs are:

AthXP 1700+
Kingston ValueRAM 512MB DDR333 RAM
Geforce FX5200 with *sniff* 64MB RAM

Would it be worth the effort trying to play Ikaruga, or should I attempt to find a faster machine?

Anyway, my laptop consists of the following:
P4-M 2.8Ghz
512MB DDR266 RAM (of which 64MB is shared)
Integrated Graphics.

Could this explain the crappy experience I've been having?

Also, I would be pursuing a course in Computer Engineering in a few weeks time. Once I have a fair grasp of my course proper (ie, programming, assembly programming, hardware design etc.) I am interested in contributing to this project in my spare time in terms of manpower. Does the Chankast team welcome any help from external parties?

Thanks for your time. BTW, if anybody has tried emulating Ikaruga using Chankast, could somebody post their specs and fps? thanks a million!

Ikaruga should run ok for the most part with your desktop PC - there are moments that slow down at the beginning/end of each level, but should be playable.

The problem with the laptop is most likely due to the integrated graphics - all depends what the make is though, as it could even be a driver problem (integrated Radeon/Geforce for example should be fine).

As for the help, well I haven't seen them asking for any help, though if you could demonstrate knowledge in areas they perhaps need help in then perhaps they'd allow someone on board. I think you'd need a lot of experience though.
