Really Wierd Zelda: Ocarina Problems

Help! Totally new to this forum, and to Project 64 as an emulator, let me say it works very nicely, much better than UltraHLE. I am having three distinct problems, if anyone could be so kind as to reply with their solutions (I hope there are solutions)...

Problem #1: Most serious - Deku Nuts are not replenishing after I pick them up. I can use them, I get down to 0, and I cannot pick any more up. If I restart the ROM, I can pick up 5, but no more than that. This isn't a big problem yet, but it will be when I get to the Gerudo area.

Problem #2: Garbled Video - The area directly to the left of the selection area, in the start menu screen where you can choose Sword, Shield, and Tunic, and boots, is a jumbled mass of junk. Anyone else seen this problem?

Problem #3: Crackley sound - Not really bad, but enough pop's and click to be severly annoying at times.

I have downloaded the most recent RDB file from the stick thread, so that doesn't seem like the solution can be found there. Help!

Athlon 1.33Ghz
512 DDR Pc2100
SB Live! Value
Creative Annhilator 2 32mb Geforce 2 GTS

I can't think of anything else that would be pertinent to this problem, but I will gladly explain more given question.

Thank you all very much!

1) I would say the rom is bad, scan it with GoodN64

2) Known problem, use framebuffer emulation if u _need_ it, but it will be much slower

3) Turn on sync audio

Well I changed some of that, and now I have a new one.

First, I scanned with Good64, and I have a "good dump". So it isn't a corrupted ROM. Secondly, I guess I have v1.0 ROM, not the 1.1, maybe there was a bug fix there?

Anyways, I got the Upgraded Deku Nut capacity and that seems to have solved the problem for now, and I fixed the audio with the wait option. I guess the video is just going to be garbled, but I don't really mind it. Is the switch to that screen slow for anyone else? "That screen" is the start menu, with all the items and songs and the map.

But now, just as I beat the Jabu Jabu dungeon, the game crashed. And it WON'T reload. I have restarted my computer, tried other ROM's, Project 64 will not load any file now. Quite odd. Help?

EDIT
New Development: I was able to get the damned thing to run, but the instant I got past the character select screen it returned this little nugget of joy:

Unhandled R4300i OpCode at: 801E52B4
Unknown Cop1 44 61 00 00

STOPPING EMULATION!

I think I might just have to go do something productive, like eating or homework, and give up on my fantasy life for a little while. :) Talk to you all later!

Kingash,

You must use at least self mod. code handling method
"Check memory and Cache".

Well with some fiddling I managed to get things sort of ok, but I'm still having problems.

GoodN64 says I have a good dump of the ROM, but my Deku Nuts are still misbehaving. I can buy them to increase my inventory count, but I usually don't get credit for the ones I pick up (but sometimes I do).

Is it a known issue that the inventory selection screen loads up REALLY slow in Project64? Mine is sure pokey.

After beating Jabu Jabu, I have had to switch to Protected Memory and the resultant performance hit, because under "Check & Block Memory" I would crash quite often. Anyone found a way through this?

And finally, I have a Thrustmaster Dual Power gamepad that has been working very nicely. However, the stone of agony doesn't seem to be making it rumble. It rumbles fine when I roll into walls and stuff, but no secrets rumble.

Please help! I am a hapless fool! :)

Then if it's messing up, I guess you could always try using a cheat as a workaround for the deku nuts.

Then, for the crash, protect memory or interpreter usually solve this type of problems.

Kingash, it shouldn't crash regularly on Change Memory, try using native saves instead of state saves. But if you have a fast enough PC, just use Protect Memory like you are.

And this Nuts thing is totally new to me, have you been usin cheat codes?

Nope, no cheat codes. And I have been using only native states, I like playing emulated games as much like the N64 as I can. GoodN64 says its the v1.0 rom (!) good dump I think is what the ! means, so... I dunno, I'm very confused.
