Really need some help here

I at one time had project 64 installed on my computer and got it running and working just fine. Well for some reason or another I ended up deleting it. I decided I wanted it back recently so I downloaded and installed it. I downloaded all the plugins and the newest RDB. Well I can't seem to get it to work. I only have tried two roms so far, legend of zelda oot and wwf no mercy. They load properly and the framerate starts out really high but then just drops to like 1 or 2 fps. I have the latest directx installed and I know my computer can run project 64 because I have had it on here before. Anybody have an idea why I can't get this thing to work? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

What Project64 version did you have previously installed?

You know what I am not sure to be honest with you. I think it was an earlier version of project 64 though. I downloaded and was using it probably close to a year ago or more I think.
