Question about controller and plug ins

I'm new to the emulation scene and i got Project 64 to work and all but when i try to configure a controller (i have a sidewinder) it won't let me configure, is there anything else i got to do to get a controller to work? any suggestions, i also read somewhere that you can use an actual N64 controller?

Also i have a Geforce 4 but i keep reading that people should use Glide plug in and stuff, well since i don't have a 3dfx card do i need to get such plug ins? and yes Paper Mario does flick for me =(. thanks

OK, to answer your questions, 1) The Sidewinder problem, if you're using Jabo's Input Plugin, (as I assume) make sure you select the sidewinder from the dropdown box instead of keyboard, then configure. 2) Using an N64 controller, You will need to get either an Adaptoid or an N64/PSX usb adaptor, and an N64 controller, both converts can be found at the site on the banner above. 3) Paper Mario Flicker, Supposedly if you use Glide64+evoodoo, it get rid of that, but if you have a GeForce 4 MX440, it seem Glide 64 + evoodoo doesnt like this card too much, (I know, I have one and Glide doesn't work.) Use Jabo's Direct3D7 1.5 and tweak the advanced settings. hope this helps! :D

1) Make sure that the controller is "selected" in the gamepad dropdown list. Also make sure you've installed it in the gamepad in the control panel; otherwise it won't find it.

2) Glide64 + eVoodoo and using the hybrid swapping buffer should eleminate flickering in paper mario. Needless the card (afaik).
