PSX: Not Quite PS3

Originally the PlayStation started life as Sony's candidate for the SNES CD-ROM. When Sony and Nintendo had a majour disagreement over licensing, though, Sony split and took the hardware with them.

But yes, it has some excellent games... even if it's very VERY badly engineered overall.

i agree with both of you guys, the engineering is quite poor though, needs more speed, and it lacks antialising/ps1 enhancement, Doesnt look that nice (I prefered the old design from UK PSM, when it was called playstation 2000) & The DVD function is poor.

But it is a gr8 console, and has a very nice lineup of games, thats why i traded my GC for one, never regreted it

Lacks PS enhancement? When the system starts, go to System Information, highlight PlayStation(R) Driver, and hit Triangle. =)

Playstation is an underdeveloped, technological bullshit from Sony. Only stupid kids buy it for playing GTA3 (which is a cool game, anyway) and "mass" games that worth shit.

I differ with you.. in fact I think your idea of 'good' and bad might be limited. When most games came out for the PS1 <for people who are game challenged I'll call it that> the majority of the games were 2d simple peices O crap.

Right now games have become inordinately complex with voice acting 3d etc. being substituted for substance. It will be many years before the video game industry I think will be able to put out more decent games, due to economic issues and more importantly, they've totally lost it with the 3d excitement.. just how many 'cool looking graphics' are going to make up for a crappy design, I don't really know. The basic games are really lacking.

So to say 1 piece of hard ware has crap written for it is hypermyopic when the whole of the industry in general has crap written all over it. I have bough 2 games for my PS2 and I've had it a year and a half. NOTHING out there seems really interesting, and for the PSX I've bought 30 for the 3 years I played it a lot. That's 10 a year. To be honest there REALLY aren't that many GOOD games.

i know ive done that before, still not much difference, i am still disapointed on the enhancement though, you'd expect it to enhance the graphics, i mean look at bleem for dreamcast, glad i bought it though

First: I never like'd the PS one (or PSX), and I never like'd the PS2.

Second: I think the name "PSX" is a bad name maybe "PS2X" is a better name, because when I hear "PSX" I think of the PS one when I hear it.

Third: there is no game for me available on the PS2

I think about the same as a brand new video card or more. But if it only plays PS2 games, why spend more money then you have to play the same game?
In my opinion it's like buying a brand new video card for $499 just to play DOOM, it's not going to make you game look any better!

It filters textures so they don't block up to hell up close.

The only other way it could "enhance" the graphics is rendering at a higher resolution... but PS2 attempts to simulate PS1's hardware at a very fine level, which gives it around ~99% compatibility. I doubt Bleem!cast can run half as many games.
