Project64 taking up 100% CPU

I think I fixed it. It appeared to be a video plugin, Glide64. On average now, it takes up about 60% CPU, but sometimes jumps to 80% once in a while. The problem I was worried about was it taking up more and more CPU over time, when open. Thats fixed, at least.

good to hear that because i was going to say on my 1.8 ghz AMD i can open 3 instances of running goldeneye with a bit of audio crackling, indicating slowdown.

Hi, i have exactly the same problem, when i start any N64 rom with PJ64 it becomes slower on every second, it begins at 60 fps, then ~40, then ~20, then ~7, then ~1.3567, etc, and CPU consumption is growing at the same time to almost hang my computer, i have sound disabled and all options are defaults, this problem appears on every video plugin i have tried, TR64 and Jabo's (in Jabo i cannot get video output, all screen remains in black, but the slowdown is still there) I cannot use Rice Video plugins because of the "cannot initialize Dx shit" bug. I will try Glide64 to see what happens, but i have not much hope, i have already migrated to 1964, i'm only posting to show there is something on "new" computers that makes PJ64 completely useless :yucky:

My specs:
WinXP sp1
AMD Athlon 2800+
Asus A7N8X (Nforce2)
512 MB DDR400
ATI Radeon 9600 XT 256MB

That's normal when running a ROM. Another n00b :(.

Guys who are throwing around with "nub" are in most cases nubs themselves...

That isnt normal ! The emu takes only around 33% CPU power on my machine , except for the High performance Games , they got around 66% CPU usage ( Goldeneye , PD ) .

But this framerate drop can be forced by using azimers audio ( 80 % CPU usage ! ) Look at the screens as a proof... Some are taken with 1964 , but the result is the same in PJ64 , anyways...

And i don't think that the emu will take THAT much more CPU power to Pump his CPU load up to 100%

And it's not normal when the CPU load is so high with ANY games .

The third screen is Rakuga kids with Azimer's , in other games azimer's "only" takes around 40% CPU load .

And say... what are those "rare games" that are using 100% CPU load ?!

I haven't seen a post you've made where you didn't post some bullcrap about how you think computer hardware works.. Call me flaming, whatever, give me a referral, whatever, but your posts rarely ever are correct.. wait, did I say rarely? I meant never.

Yeah , if there is something , that can be related in ANY way with Hardware RJA comes around and posts something like you mentioned...

My GoldenEye rom takes up 100% CPU. But as a gamer, this doesn't bother me since I own the game for the real N64. But as an emulation fanatic, I wouldn't mind seeing it fixed. Usually the game runs at about 45 FPS, but it does get at full speed sometimes when less CPU power is needed. It slows down to about 40 FPS on the file select menu, don't know why though. I'm currently using DirectX 8.1, but I'm downloading 9.0b right now. (I used to have 9.0b, but I formatted my harddrive and so it's back to 8.1)

I'm not "RJASTFU".

Jeah , I know , your name is something that starts with "RJA"... But i can't really learn by heart your full name ! And I'm too lazy to copy + paste... Ok , my name is written in 1337 , but its kinda readable and understandable IMO
I've written the name in 1337 , because all good names i wanted to take were already regged :( But i think in your regging year ( 2001 ) I think there were just enough names free to get a "normal" name :D

/edit : Huh ? why has your regging year changed ?!

LOL, guess that was just him doing some wishful thinking

How about closing this thread ?! It's only a spam thread in my eyes , and Rebirthseph's problem has been fixed already...
