I just installed Windows XP SP1, everything was fine until I find that I was unable to connect to the Internet, I tried it all, but I can't get conected, so then I try to uninstall the SP1, but because a "misterious" reason I was unable to unistall it, so I get mad and reinstall the OS. Before trying again to install the SP1, could anyone tell how to solve this problem, and why is this happening?

Rule of windows: Never upgrade to a service pack if everything is working ok ;)

With the connection if you have any software your isp sent you try reinstalling that and see if it works. Failing that just ring them and shout :)

look for your latest modem drivers and see if they are compatible with winxp
if so you should try to reinstall sp1

btw did you create a new dial up connection after reinstalling sp1 ?

check the modem, if there's been a power surge down your phone line it's probably dead, it's basic it's silly but it does happen

try reinstalling the driver as well (obvious ;) )

My hardware is OK I'm sure, I'll try with the drivers issue, where can I find if my modem drivers are SP1 compatible, (they are already XP compatible but I don't know if they also are SP1 compatible)

:plain2: they don't need to be sp1 compatible, if they work with winxp, they work with winxp sp1. you know, the funny thing is, you seem to be logging in and posting here just fine. Looks to me like you just feel like spamming up the tech talk board once again. :plain2:

Cooliscool it is true that you were banned?, by the way this is a serious problem, I'm not spaamming, and what do you mean with "again"

Banned? no. Again? When you first came here almost a whole page of threads in tech talk was filled with threads you made, drowning out alot of people's other threads. Spam, nothing less. Don't take it as me being mean to you, i'm just pointing something out.

first of all.. it's never a good idea to install a service pack on a "used" windows installation

format, put on sp1, then drivers, then update windows and install/patch your software.. :>

p.s., if xp doesnt have support for your modem, make sure you throw the drivers on a floppy
