Problem with Turok, etc.

probably been asked before, but whenever i run any copy of turok, or any game similar to it (e.g. armorines, south park, etc.), i am treated to a black screen, but with the fps counter still going, and apparently changing plugins has no effect - same result for each one of my comp's :\

i only encounter this problem under xp, works fine under winme.

using latest drivers (Catalyst 3.0) + DX9 here (first rig) and Detonator 42.01 + DX9 (2nd and 3rd)

any thoughts?

I don't have any configurations like yours, so I just have some generic ideas:

1) Try xp compatibility modes. This has helped some Radeon users, I believe.

2) Try other emulators

3) Try fullscreen/windowed to see if that is any different

4) Tinker with video driver settings in the control panel

5) Make sure your swap file is big enough

thanks for the tips, got everything above, even tried it on 1964, but same result - no luck :\

ive downloaded the rom(s) from a couple different sites, and they all give me the same problem.
