"Please insert game disc"

OK, I've got a Windows XP, SP2, P4 1.8 GHz, GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128 DDR, 512 DDR 266 Mhz RAM.

I've got the Chankast 0.25, a Resident Evil: Code Veronica (the filename was "DC - Resident Evil Code Veronica(2CD)(self)(CDI)", by which I think it is a self-bootable). I made the 2 CDIs to ISOs, then using Virtual CD 5.0 I have put them in virtual drives E and F:. After that I changed the Chankast Drive setting to E:. Now I run the emulator, the bios is ok, I click play and... "please insert game disc". Why's that? Am I missing something? I read a lot threads about that but all the answers were: "are you sure the game is self-bootable (mine is I think)" or "have you changed the Drive setting (I have)". So any idea? Please help.

What is wrong with the cdi format that you have to make it into ISO format? Some program like MagicIso and UltraIso may make the ISO nonselfbootable because it only copy the data not the hidden files like ip.bin which make it selfbootable.

Thanks for the reply.

The problem was that Virtual CD 5 doesn't support CDI files. I didn't consider that possibility. So what to do? How do I make the ISO bootable? Or what program to use to make a virtual cd from the CDI?

P.S. OK, now I've got another problem. I mounted the CDIs with DAEMON tools. But now when I click play there is a black screen for a second and then it returns to the beginning with the Dreamcast logo. Interesting thing the thing which asks you for the date and time shows twice, not like before, once. Any ideas now?

Get a new dc_flash.bin (the one in the zip/rar file) if it keep asking for the time. If daemon 3.29 won't work, try daemon 3.32. You could always burn the cdi image and then make a new image out of that cd with a format that Virtual CD 5 support (just not ISO). Example: *.nrg, *.bin, *.img, *.ccd

grrrr I can't seem to figure out how to get this game going.

Now. Using DAEMON tools it didn't work - When I hit play, it there is a black screen for 1 second and then it returns to the dreamcast logo in the beginning. I tried burning a cd from the original CDI files, configured the drive setting and when I hit play the same thing happens - the black screen and then back from the beginning. From this CD I made a ccd file, and via Virtual CD I put it in a virtual drive. But now when I press the start button from the Chankast it displays the DC logo and right after that it gives an error. The window is named "ioControl" and it just says error with an OK button which doesn't work, I mean when I press it the same window appears again. Please help, I don't know why I have all these problems???? Code Veronica is playable so why could that be?

Did you get a new dc_flash.bin and/or dc_bios.bin yet? I have the same version of Resident Evil as you and it work fine when I mount the cdi with daemon tool.

Yes, thanks, that was actually the problem. I got new dc_bios and dc_flash.bin and it worked!!! thanks for the help. The game looks great. I can't believe you guys made such an emulator for such a short time. Great work!! BTW Cid do you have the same problem like me with the game - the inventory is not ok and the map screen too. Everything else seems to be ok. Thanks again. :)

This error is caused by the CDROM plugin in Chankast, try to use the other plugin (Built-in Plugin).

BTW Cid do you have the same problem like me with the game - the inventory is not ok and the map screen too.

Could you be more specific? Use Z-write and Z-write Alpha to see the missing part if you are having that problem.
