Playing with a keyboard?

I see it has been asked a few times, and I've followed all of the advice given, but none of it seems to work. I downloaded N-Rage, but I don't really know where to go from there.

Every time I try to open a game in 1964, it says no controller. So, I set the keyboard settings I want to play with, and restart the game. Like magic, my settings are all erased.

So I just would like to know, can anybody help me find an easy way to get my keyboard to with with 1964? I'll be on aim, DTPowell02, most of the night if you're kind enough to message me. Otherwise, I'd be very pleased if you could post here and help me.

Just try and use PJ64 and Rice's Video Plugin. Makes things much easier...

I don't know what you've tried already, so here's what worked for me:
Plug in controller
Open 1964
Go to Input Settings
Hit the Devices tab.
On the right there is a GamePad section, look in that for your controller.
After you set up your keys, hit the Save Profile button and save it.
Then hit the Save button in the top right.
That's what worked for me.
