sorry donators.. it's a DOS attack on the server that's been going on several days.. taken out several other sites aswell. no idea why.

if the person doing this is reading... if you have a problem, be a man and talk to us. or whoever it is on the server you have a problem with, talk to them. this is pathetic, you will get nothing out of it, and you won't stop us working on anything.
i'm going to be away for a bit anyway :p

er video plugin error logs don't clear, they just keep building up.. so if you've posted the lines already that's enough :) make sure you put your system specs and driver with them aswell please.

mybb forums also went down recently due to an sl injection in certain vulnerable files.

isolate the ip range and ban it till you can get the ip logs to ban the ips individually

No a DOS attack is much different. I had this happen to a place that I was hosted through once. Here goes the definition for those who don't know:

DoS attack

Short for denial-of-service attack, a type of attack on a network that is designed to bring the network to its knees by flooding it with useless traffic. Many DoS attacks, such as the Ping of Death and Teardrop attacks, exploit limitations in the TCP/IP protocols. For all known DoS attacks, there are software fixes that system administrators can install to limit the damage caused by the attacks. But, like viruses, new DoS attacks are constantly being dreamed up by hackers.

A lot of times because they are going directly at the server, an attack such at this will drop many sites. Most often, they are not directed at an individual for any reason other than pure enjoyment. Sometimes they will however do this to a specific person on purpose. This type of attack also can be caused by a website that's got something formatted improperly, like a php or asp script that run at server level. This latter was the case with the server I was on.

yes but a decent dos attack requires many computers, and they are usually all on the same ip range, so simply bannign that range will stop the attack long enough to get the information needed to stop it permanently

it must be fairly good 'cos Martin hasn't got the site up yet.. i don't know, the pj team don't manage the server, it's the emulation64 crew that do that for us. so it's wasting their time, not ours (if you're still reading, mr. doss-er)

... attacks probably won't stop.. so cut them off for now by disconnecting the connection, then go through the ip logs to find out who was doing it then block the ips and reconnect... i've had to do it at my old school once or twice.....

actually i just had an idea... put his ip out and let us dos him back till he overloads his servers....
