Why don't you get it you moron, I didn't mean to edit your post.

you mean, you just didn't SEE all the text i had typed in? do you post to emutalk using braille?

even if it was an HONEST mistake, which i doubt, then you are in fact the moron. although i enjoy the subtle irony of your moronic posts on rare occasion.

OK Panda he apologised to you and explained it was a mistake. You can't call anyone stupid since you just insulted a mod and accused them of something they have not done.

Goodbye retard.

piracy is what it is... right or wrong, fair or not. but we've all been through this discussion a million times before. why not quit the little small talk and write a congressman if you really want to be productive :p

it's insane irony that everyone would be talking about piracy on an emulation board ;)

Why would he do that? Congress is out to get him for conspiring against Corporate America, the last thing he wants to do is send them a letter.

Maybe countries can alot a certain amount of money to intellectual properties (from some sort of taxation), and then citizens can vote for candidates to recieve those monies (scientists, artists, musicians, etc.). Or something far beyond our current comprehension. One thing is for sure: the old ways are dead, long live the new ways, get over it.
Very true. :)

I believe Canada has the right Idea. They've introduced a small levy on Electronic Media. (Smartmedia,CD-R's,DVD-R's etc)

If whole media sector needs to wake up and smell the coffee, pirating is bad, but pandora's box has been opened and can now never be closed.

Actually that is just a "we know for sure that you are going to use this to pirate a copyrighted work" tax. In spite of the fact that you pay that tax, it's still illegal to burn any copyrighted works to it.

Piracy is something tricky.. There is different reason for each people:
* Some people just like to collect (like the person who this thread was started about) .. The question is here would they have bought if they could not pirate, I think some would, but most I suspect would buy like 10 movies.. Since the original is so much better, if they wanted it they would buy it.
* Some people can just not afford it, no matter what you did, the cost of chasing these people would always cost you more.
* Some people are cheap, again they are not likely to buy it in the first place.
* The companies are not meeting the needs of the customers, the customers now see there is a better way and using it, the companies seem to try and force the customers back to the old method (the reason there is so many law suits), something like itune comes along and you can then really see the demand. Something I would love is to just be able to get new TV episodes, with out the adds, when they come out. I have to wait like 6 months a year before there here on tv, then I have to remember to record it when it is on, cause I am usually busy, the closest I get is buy buying a season on dvd .. and that is way after.
* Now the last main group of pirates that I see are the people that profit off the work of the original people. These are the ones you really want to stop and the main people that I think are the villains of the piece.

Piracy is not wrong... Ok pirating music per say... If I was in a band and people were downloading my music, I would be happy. I make so much money from concerts, merchandise, special apperances, I wouldn't care if a few thousnad (million) people downloaded my music, besides I'd still be selling my CDs to stores and it would just make me proud people like me enough to DL my songs. Movies...ah, 70% of movies I and my friends see, we end up seeing (if there good) the other 30% are movies that suck or hard to find 70s and 80s movies. (and if you make a sucky movie you don't deserve our money) and finally Software and Games. I downloaded these more then any thing else (well maybe not keygens) Why the hell would I want to pay $195 for Windows XP Pro that has so many bugs its not even worth DLing? I don't. Hell theres so much software out today thats not even worth looking at the box. Does that mean they don't deserve their hard earned money? ... No, but frankly I don't give a damn because piracy is like my sweat, sweat drug. ... and about the remark about there should be harsher privacy laws, thats fucking BS. As if watching what we download isn't enough you want to allow them to come in our home? NO-ONE is perfect and this is my flaw =\
