Pentium4 Vs. Athlon

Doomulation

?????????????????????????
Afaik, athlon is the best processor available.
I've never had CPU-releated problems. And no cooling problems, etc.
It's true that the athlons can get overheated, but afaik, then the system locks up, as a final protection. Getting a decent cooling fan, it should be no problem.

The athlons can even be easily clocked up. It can be done in BIOS directly, which only old celerons could.

And...it is cheaper. So defenetly go for athlon or duron (prefely athlon), and not p4--that's a mistake!

Well honestly, anybody who pays $400 for a p4 2.6ghz, where an athlon 2600+ costs $300 and is even a bit faster for gaming, is just nuts.

Why not just give me the $100? You'll miss it just the same ;)

lol :p
Btw, good news for Athlons: Seems the Barton will run around 60%cooler due to SOI, the Hammer maybe even more :D

I am going to be getting a clawhammer in my next PC because it bridges the gap between the next generation PC platform and the current one by having IA64 and x86 in one chip. I heard intel just barely began work on doing this, something called the yamhill, though its a few years behind the clawhammer.

Can't wait til they get cheap.

Yes, clawhammer looks promising. I will just wait see though, I hope AMD has the necessary support for it. It has the potential to be like the step from 286 -> 356 though.

Afaik, the clawhammer will be pretty expensive for a while.
The same was for the Athlon XP processors.
But they will probably drop in time.
