Pentium 4

I just want to clear up a few things that have been bugging me about this processor.

I want to know if the Pentium 4 processor has a 64 bit memory addressing? I have heared from some people saying that it has 64 bit memory accessing etc......

I don't know if this information is true or not. I just want it clearing up. Is the Pentium 4 processor 64 bit or is it 32?

its as 32bit as the 486... as for everything else, thats a different story, its not 64 bit at ALL...

Intels 64 bit chip is the iatium, which seems to be a loooong way off and they may be going the way of AMD and doing x86-64 (32bit with 64 bit extensions)

Ok thanks for that. I just wanted to clear it up cos there is a tit at uni saying that it's 64 bit (some stupid tit from Lincoln).

So it's in no way 64 bit? I know when they designed it they put in some extra command codes etc. into the processor but that doesnt make it 64 bit.

pentium 4 = 32bit from the ground up

the extra instructions are checkin and stuff onto the pipeline, make less instructions per clock cycle possible... which means you cant get as much out of the processor per clock cycle, but you can push it faster... wonder why intel chips run faster than AMD but dont really outperform them? theres your answer
