PCSX2 - 'Tiny' Speed Boost

Check the screenshots ;)

Most battles range from 12-21 FPS, 'Areas' range from 15-45 FPS, menus / 2D logos, 49-75 FPS.

FFX and X-2 are still not playable for long periods of time, due to video support lacking (for now ;) ), spu2 bugs, that cause the game to lock up, and missing terrain parts.

I will now crush alot of people (sorry), by saying that this speed can only be achieved with vuREC, and vuREC requires SSE2, so folks, you need a CPU that supports SSE2

Btw this was done with sound actually working, here's alittle sample: FFX Sounds, music etc

At your service, dood!
Awesomeness, pcsx devs have outdone themselves and hopefully will continue to do so. :D

70% of full speed in some areas is fucking amazing imho. (excuse my foulness, i'm just excited)

<-- my cpu rules for SSE2.

Yeah, VURec should in thoery be faster on P4s than any other CPU, seeing how much the P4's execution units benefit from it.

Awesome progress.. I'm really in awe. The PCSX2 team has dispelled the "no current hardware is fast enough" rumor, and there's still much room for code improvement. :) Awesome.

Oh I'd hold ya horse's on that one ;) interestingly enough, many games still run (under vuREC) at sub 5 fps...FFX is very well coded, and makes brilliant use of the vu0 / vu1, it's the game that everyone thought would be slow due to it's complexity, well thats a myth for sure, and well squashed :D

Don't get me wrong, many games run faster now, Devil May Cry 3 at 12 - 23 FPS, etc, but it is true, no current HW is really capable of playing 99% of PS2 games at full speed :D

I wouldn't call that a small speed increase, rather a fairly big one. Amazing work guys, just what i was hoping for

hmm, those pics are really attractive :D, good work
/me happy 'cause my cpu has sse2 instructions
btw, may you tell what are the specs of that machine, where the pics were taken? (or it was in your pc, ckemu?)

check this out:

there is even a VERY promising attempt for non SSE2 but SSE CPUs
so CKemus crushing is now almost removed ;)
of course due to the fact this side project "emulates" SSE2 using SSE the speed is not as good as on the original implementation but still , damn cool :D
BTW: freakin amazing it seems that the author of this side project did this only whith the PCSX 2 source which means he had no additional information from the PCSX2 team o_O
respect!
