Paypal Welcome to my Futile domain.

Like many large companies they have large problems.
A lot of bad employee's can hide there is one of them.
It reminds me of a well known company that has been struggling to keep a plant open, not beccause the employee's but because of gross mismanagement. People who don't listen and do there thing, end up destroying companies.
Welcome to the most common factor for business problems, humans ;)

We (IE people) make these problems through ignorance and reacting. Well that's life I guess, you can't expect people to actually think these days can you?

Don't expect things to improve until people get out of there little shell of themselves and start actually serving people. (Paypal is a service company yet they serve no one and have gone the opposite direction I only used them once to get something but haven't used them since).

While their policies and actions are questionable, there is a much simpler reason to avoid paypal at all costs: they can't reliably preform their primary purpose of money transfer, even in a case as simple as depositing $20, and buying a book on Ebay.

They stole $200 from me long ago - before they were bought and "reformed". After this, with a different account, they have failed to transfer money (with the action waiting forever in que), charged my card then had no record of doing it, and sent account closure notices - only to have no record of this later after a long struggle. My parents (who still try and use them, and have accounts completely seperate from mine) have had their account suspended for selling "pornographic material" (a CD transaction in which they used the word 'fugue').

Obviously they manage millions of successful transactions - but they are understaffed and unwilling to correct problems - almost any problem. They provide a service cheaply, which can be obtained elsewhere at slightly greater cost with much more reliability.
Again, never had such problems. All Paypal transactions has been made successfully.
It's a shame these things happen, but as stated, some companies just have bad people and as we will learn, once companies grow large, they grow unreliable and things like this happens.

Idiots. How are payments handled at your store? Perhaps we can make donations that way...

We're using something called Payson for CC payments: http://www.payson.se

Anyway, the account is still suspended, I'm waiting for them to get back to me. We've not received a donation for probably 6 months at least, but in case someone wants to donate they could just send a PayPal payment for a "service". Once the PayPal account is active again, that is.

So, you'll "service" me if I make a donation? :ermm:

I'll bet that violates their ToS as well. :p

Send this back to them:

Dear PayPal,

Thank you for contacting Martin with your concern regarding the limitation
of his account.

In order to comply with PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy you will need to:

1. Realize that you need to take 30 seconds from your life as a virgin to check the sites, trust us, you work for PayPal, you won't get laid.

2. Submit an apology e-mail to Martin for wasting his time to score.

We understand that you do not understand he doesn't accept "payments" through PayPal. However, he doesn't receive funds through PayPal for a website whose content isn't
questionable (apart from crack sales), as he is dealing in areas that come under copyright issues (like crack).
This is an area of business that PayPal has chosen in which not to
particpate, and that is sad (you cold have got free crack).

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Sincerely,
ShadowDamien

Martin I know it's obvious they don't know WHAT they are talking about. Paypal simply is doing things without thought, which of course can lead to trouble.

Indeed, but I also think they feel the pressure from Nintendo to suspend any account that they consider "grey area". And of course Nintendo considers an emulation site grey area, they've done so since the beginning of emulation. Don't think there's a lot to do, it's their rules.

Anyway, the account is still suspended, they don't seem to answer my e-mails anymore.

At your service, dood!
I'd understand it if emutalk was a rom site but it isn't, emulators are not illegal, also when do I get my "service"? I donated ;) - it was a while ago mind you, when I was probably called "sayargh"

How kind. And I didn't even have to take down my donations button on my other site 1emulation.com ;)

Screw Paypal. They stole $160 from me. I'm never using them again, even if I have to avoid buying something because of it. Basically, someone I know that sells stuff on Ebay, sent me $160 through Paypal to pay a debt to me. I received the money and immediately withdrew it to my bank account. About a week later, my Paypal account was $160 in the hole. I looked through my transactions to see that apparently the person who sent the money requested a chargeback or something like that. I sent an e-mail to Paypal and they said that they had reviewed this situation and determined the money should be returned to the sender. So, it turns out that the person that sent me the money had a bunch of chargebacks from Ebay customers. Their account was around $550 in the hole(Believe it or not, I found out this information without resorting to any illegal method.). So, Paypal deemed them worthy of reclaiming their money even though they had numerous people claiming chargebacks. Not to mention the money was not sent as a mistake considering it took the person about 4 days to try and reclaim it. This was not entirely Paypal's fault, but it was mostly for allowing an obviously false claim to go through.

Sorry, I had to get that out :p. Congratulations on getting your account back Martin, but honestly I'd watch Paypal very carefully.
