The reason to hit reset is to clear the music out of the buffer, otherwise whatever was playing in the background will continue and never stop!

But maybe, like the image before battle, the neverending music thing only happens on my computer...

I've never heard of the everlooping-sound, but I will investigate, perhaps. As for the image, this is always in Paper Mario since it's trying to get something from the buffer before battle...
