I'll tell you this, I use a Radeon 7500, Paper Mario = messed up.
My dad uses a Radeon 9200, and on his pc, Paper Mario = even more messed up.
That's just our fate, and from my experience, the newer the Radeon it is, the worse it'll run.
So if you ever get the chance, get a Geforce :p

uh, and you would be wrong. 7500 and 9200 are both very low end radeons, so i wouldn't base my judgement on that.

i tried jabo's 1.5.1 and glN64 on the Radeon 8500 and didn't see any of these alleged graphical/flicker problems (it looked perfect to me), but that's probably because i haven't played past the first bowser battle :).

Rice's and glide64+wrapper purportedly work well also. Make sure to set the Software T&L option on rice's.

Titôsca , you could also use direct64 ( if you don't mind Pitch black characters in dark areas ) or use rice's .

@maximus : The graphics could messed up because you two guys got non-pixel shader graphical cards O.ó

Here are some screens with direct64 (the flare sprites are messed up , the rest is ok ) . It looks nice with rice's , too . He got a 9700Pro , it's a PS2.0 card like mine , so he'll get the same experience like me .

I have a r9700 pro and it looks almost perfect with Rice 5.5.1 (get in the 1964 forum). During some areas it will flicker -- then I switch over to the 0.5 alpha of Direct64. Very playable, 99% of the time works great.

Count me in , i do it the same way . For the flicker areas , you can fiddle around with the "frame update at..." settings , then you don't have to switch plugins ;)

I tend to use Rice's video plugin (my video card (see sig) just black screens with Direct64) and switch to Jabo's Direct3D6 1.51 plugin when I go into dark areas.
