overclocking...

alrite i was wondering how this is done with the way its set up in chankast. do u just press + or - in game and it over clocks it? it sounds pretty simple and it just may be but i was wondering if that was how since thats all im reading from the manuels. And i was wondering when u overclock it for chankast when u shut down chankkast do u have to under clock it back to a non overclocked state or when u close chankast it automaitically does that?
one last thing overclocking the cpu, doesnt that void the warranty (but who really cares anyway) but it wuld require a better cooling system, maybe adding another fan, wouldnt it? or youd damage your computer.
just wondering. thankx

You dont overclock/underclock your real cpu. All it does is overclock/underclock the EMULATED DC SH4 CPU. In other words, so new cooling system needed, no new fans, no voiding of the warranty, and it doesnt damage the pc.

So how come it seems to slow down with a higher overclock? I get the best frames slightly under 100Mhz like 80Mhz or something.

It depends on the game, and what type of system your running it on. On my system, Soul Calibur is actually faster OC'ing the Sh4 to 115.

On lower end systems, underclocking the SH4 will speed up emulation.

i know its a little off topic, but does anyone notice in soul calibur, the frame late is somewhat slower (or normal depending on machine), but when it does all the replays after each bout, it speeds up to normal speed. is this because the replay is actually being played from a buffer or something? or is there someway to fix it so that the whole game plays as fast as the replays do? anyway thanks for the advice on the 115 speed setting fivefeet... seems to work just fine (not 100% yet but good enough around 43 fps)

What means lower system in your opinion? And why it game depend, do you know that?

strangely enough i've noticed that speedup in frame rate at the replays...

i'm been racking my brains trying to figure that one out..

Probably due to the fact that AI doesn't have to be processed during a replay.

Replays actually go abit slower for me if it is underclocked. I find it pretty odd, when i underclock it fully to 50, it runs the fastest for me, plus the sound is much better too.

you recon itd be a cool idea if chankast auto clocked the emu to make the games run at full speed (if possible) or slow it down if its too fast? kinda like a frame limiting system.
