Actualy it should be the opposite; the slower your connection, the less difference you should notice. After a certain point of latency, its how well written the code is for rendering the webpage, which phoenix tends to do faster.

Thats the way it seems to me at least, right now I am at home on a connection thats about 2x the speed of a t1, where at school I use an OC-3, and IE seemed even slower there, though I am not sure by how much because I quit using it a pretty long time ago. But thats just me.

trotterwatch, i respect your opinions.

but they are wrong.

obviously you have not used mozilla extensively enough. it is faster smaller, more stable, has better features, is GPL, isn't owned by one of the worst monopolitistic corporations on the planet, and even outside of all of this, is WAY less prone to virii which is a serious serious problem in outlook/ie.

so my ignorance statement still stands.

use mozilla a month, and tell me honestly it's not better.

it is. this isn't opinion, because it's page loading times and features make it better, much less it's stability, and it's pop up blocking. if i just thought it was prettier, then THAT would be an opinion. but it has features vastly superior to ie, so whatever my opinion is, scarcely matters. it is a superior browser just based on features alone, no matter my opinion.

and just because MS illegally bundled ie with windows is no excuse for allowing yourself to use outdated and inferior software. have some self respect.

You're not anyhow smarter than anyone here, you don't have more technical knowledge than anyone around here, and the fact that a certain program works good on your pc doesn't make it the best program ever. So all this bullshit about "this is not an opinion, if you disagree you're ignorant" ends now.

To get this topic back on track now;)

I'm using windows 2000, and I'm tempted to stay on it now I have gotten use to it again:)

As for Alphawolf's question, I legally own this copy:D

Edit: I've removed the majority of the spam posts and posts that are off topic here. No one take offence over it, but it makes more sense that closing the thread for spam:)

Part of that IE count would probably include me BTW, there are some (only 2 I have come across, both of which turned out to be stupid sites btw) sites that whine if you use any browser besides IE, so I modified the tags for phoenix to make it look like IE, and it works just fine with these sites.

I use Win2k Pro with Mozilla and SuSe and Red Hat Linux with Netscape and Konqueror.

Internal Error Explorer by MS totally sux and it has more bugs then I can count. I know that for sure. At least once a month a serious leak or bug has been found.

If your comp can't handle Mozilla, use Phoenix. That's all I can say. The popup blocking alone is enough to make you switch.

Not to mention, IE is already on my computer, I cant uninstall it and M$ doesnt make money if I use it or dont use it so why in gods name would I want to waste more diskspace on Mozzilla?

You can't uninstall IE ? C'mon, it's easy. I can even uninstall DirectX and label
Start button as "Stop" button :) Or even kick out Explorer and replace it with my own desktop with transparent windows and really c00l LCD font (and it requires less resources than M$ Exxplodder)

I've cut Win98-Me to 90Mb and XP to 180 and any programs works ok.

And.... This poll is kinda st00pid - I use 5 systems on my PC - i know, i'm maniac :) but many people use WinXX + Linux etc.

And any Win9x system already contain two systems - DOS and Win32.

Here's the example how to make comfortable DOS mode it Win98:

Config.sys:

[MENU]
MENUITEM=DOS,DOS mode.
menuitem=WIN, Windows
menudefault=WIN,15

[DOS]
DOS=HIGH,UMB,NOAUTO
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=c:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE AUTO
DEVICE=C:\DRIVERS\OAKCDROM.SYS /D:_X_

.....
(other drivers)
.....

[WIN]

autoexec.bat

....

.....

GOTO %CONFIG%

:DOS

........

soundcard drivers here
BLASTER here
.........
SMARTDRV 2048

CDEX /D:_X_

RAT.COM (RENAME mouse.com and mscdex.exe or krazy windoze will remove them)

...........

your favourite shell (nc, etc) here
