Only 50 percent cpu?

Ho, I'm not a computer wize or anything but I've noticed that when ever I run a game on Dolphin, it runs at about 8-10 fps and thats slow but descent, but when i go to check my cpu ussage It is only using about 50 percent. I have a duel core processor, Athlon 64 x2, and Dolphin runs at 100 percent on 1, and zero percent on the other. So I was wondering is this because Dolphin cant run on 100 with this type of processor, or is there some setting I havent been using? If I can get 8-10 fps with 50 percent cpu ussage, does that mean i can get 16-20 with 100 percent?

thanks for your help, i know my laimen termonoligy is horrid but if you get what i mean, please help? thanks agian

This happens because Dolphin does not use Multiple Threads on Dual core CPUs. And No, it wouldn't double that speed.

yeah like gcfreak said, it doesn't use the 2nd core. Basically, things have to be programmed to take advantage of extra cores.

Well, I guess that's another thing the Dolphin team has to take care of, besides improving speed, IMO. Don't forget about 64-bit processors, they can also improve speed, if Dolphin makes use of its capabilities.

speed is the least of our problems, if the dolphin team got the core right it would probably only double the speed, but if the dolphin supported dual core, i would love to play it on a supercomputer

It won't improve speed.
I didn't say it WILL improve speed, I said it CAN improve speed. Dolphin can give it a try, since they have super compatibility. Plus, CPUs will have double the speed in two or three years, after they release the Revo and the PS3.

I doubt that. The next we'll see is two cores, quad cores and finally 8 cores! Probably more to come.
That means, speed will stay the same, but we basically get two or more processors! ...Which, in time, can rival these console beasts.
