Old Settings

?????????????????????????
:(
I just upgraded my computer a little and the result was that XP didn't work...so i had to reinstall the shit.
Anyway, the "old" documents and settings are backed up, although the problem is, i cannot access the administrator accounts!!!

There's much stuff i had in my documents and my pictures...like wallpapers, documents i've saved, etc...Anyone has an idea on how to get this back?

The drive is NTSF and everytime i try to access it, even on an admin account, i get "Access Denied". This doesn't happen on the non-admin accouts, though.

Stick it in another box, run as admin, and take ownership of the files. You can then do whatever you need.
Another box? I don't quite understand that...
and sloug: Linux is too complicated for me :p

But well, it's an NTSF drive and i cannot copy the shit to another drive.

Actually you can. If you want I'll put together a really simple Linux boot floppy so u can do that :)

I prey, not pray.
Reset the administrator account password hash, you should be able to get back in:

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

The bootdisk is a lite version of linux just designed for that one purpose. It includes a startup script that makes it idiot proof. It will not corrupt your NTFS partitions either.

(hint: if xp gives you that stupid menu thing that only provides you a list of specific logins and doesn't let you log in as administrator, press control-alt-del twice, and it will give you a different window. For the username just type "administrator", and leave the password blank)

One thing, though. Windows is installed on the second drive, the one other from the first drive, and i'm logging in as administrator, so i don't see how that would work...
And what's more is that it's linux-like; somewhat complicated. :plain:
