im using phoenix ... well theres a cute lil built-in feature there regarding popups ... sorry, marty

Sorry to say, but people like you who are blocking popups are the reason I have to use more than one popup firm... You're not supporting the sites, you know. If you would get a shitload of popups I wouldn't blame you, but that's not the case here.

For everyone's information, the popups are the only reason I can afford to run the network. They're responsible for >80% of the advertising income at the moment.

People don't seem to understand how expensive it is to run two massive, dedicated Linux server (although I'm just paying for one of them :p)

So people, start supporting us damn it. <_<

Hmm...what else? I have discovered that some popups from one of the firms occationally are using download prompt popups, but not very often. When you see one, just close it down, it won't do any harm.

i understand this martin, but the main reason i finally turned off the popups even for emu64 were the dialers showing up lately (which i pointed out in the staff forum already) which is a kind of advertising im not willing to tolerate. i hope this will be fixed :plain:

I prey, not pray.
I didn't even know E.T. had popups... :-"

I intentionaly go out of my way to break my web browsers capability to run just about every kind of script except some javascripts through modifications other than what the regular UI permits. Be it IE or mozilla (mozilla I use more), I do this to keep my systems secured.

I do not run any third party popup blocking whatever have you software, just "breaking things is easy" :)

Not doubtin ya martin. I do clear my IE stuff often. Moz has the same problem for me. Screenshot below, surfed ET for 5 mins and just didn't close the pop-ups. Bug somewhere might be in my system, but happens on all my comps and the colleges.

/me barfs

Holy shit! thats a hella of allot of popups!! hehe, i use opera myself;)

Wise words from martin, he has to pay for his server...you guys use this service and like to use it....so support it damnit :p

There is no point bitching about popups because they will always be here, unless you want a nice subscription based emulation64:p but then you would bitch about him selling out:p

Everynow and again a shitty pop-up will get through, as martin says just close the damn thing its not going to give you cancer now is it?

I think the dialer popups are gone, I reported it and they told me they would take care of that sneaky advertiser.

Now working on doing the same for Emulation64.com. Should be done soon...

EDIT: Done, registered members will see NO popups at either Emu64 or EmuTalk from now on. If I hear more complaints I'll take down the network and spend my time doing something where people will appreciate what I do. >_<

Flowers to you for supporting me!

Well you have my support Martin(see staff forum:happy: )

And for everyone complaining, would you like a little cheese with your wine :p

If you really care about emutalk and the entire network you would be supporting Martin not criticising him. >_<

Not critizizing here, I fully understand... why I'd not posted about it before, it was just a bit wild... hard to surf with 60+ pop-ups an hour. Not seen once since he removed them, I have no clue why the code wouldn't work for some of us before.

exactly there was an issue for some people, its not criticism to dislike 60+ popups an hour really is it?

vampireuk

Mr. Super Clever
it is when they are looking in the wrong direction

Edit: plus now the issue is resolved so no need for the thread to remain open:emutalk:

Good, thanks vampireuk. Oh, and for other networked sites and guests at ET/Emu64, I have reduced the number of popups further. They're now set to pop once every 12 hours so, practially, you'll only see two popups daily across the whole network. I don't expect anyone to reply to this ;) but I wanted you to know that. ^_^

And the "header" problem some people might have seen should be resolved now...
