Ogre Battle 64 crash

I apoligize if this has been answered elsewhere, but after three days searching these forums for it, I give up. I'm running Rice's 5.6.0 on PJ64 with little trouble, but as soon as I try to enter the Tenne plains right after starting the game, the CPU utilization climbs to 100% and the emulator closes itself without warning at the Scene 1 screen(Which also has the only corrupted looking text I've seen since turning on normal blending. Sort of transparent, almost illegible.). For what it's worth, it makes it through the section under DirectX, though the graphics are so corrupted it's unplayable anyways. I've got the most recent drivers for my Geforce4 Ti4400 as well.

I have also been having the same trouble. Right as I try to start the first stage, the stage name screen tries to load and the thing crashes every single time. Other than that, it plays fine. I get graphics and backgrounds and everything works fine. I am using P64 1.5 with Rice's plugin 5.6. Anyone have any ideas?

seems sound problems try other sound config ...

Well, changing the audio plugin DID get me past that part. It barely loaded, but eventually it made it through the stage opening screen without crashing, but then on the next scene I got totally screwed up graphics. I could only see the text boxes and everything else was blacked out with the exception of a few candles and such. Odd thing is that the graphics worked fine up to that point...ideas again?

Well, I now RANDOMLY can get through the stage screens, and I get graphics fine. I can't figure it out...one time if I load it it works fine and I play like 3 stages, then if I reload it later with the exact same settings, it won't get through the stage opening screen. I am pretty sure the rom is good.

Have you tried just pressing Enter repeatedly when the stage comes up? Everyone has very slow transition effects with that screen, and your computer may just be locking up from trying to load it completely. Pressing the Enter or Start button to circumvent that transition should get you through it easier.

Yeah tried to hit enter, but it doesnt help. Weird thing is...sometimes if I disable the sound, it will get past the screen, THEN, if I end the emulation and put the sound back on and restart it, it will get past the screen. If it makes it past the screen once, however, it will continue to work fine for as long as I keep playing. When I stop playing, I have to go through the whole process to get it to work again. No rhyme or reason to the whole damn thing.

Im not having quite the same video crash problems such as you guys are, but im getting crashes in the middle of game play, in paticular is unit texts. When i play the game everything is fine, backrounds, sounds, graphics, etc... but i only got to the 2nd stage, and then during 1 of the pre battle texts scenes, it completely freezes... i have no idea how to deal with it, iv tryed buttom mashing to skip it, and iv tryed using just about every emulator possible *currently using 1964*.
