  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

Ocarina of Time Cel Shaded (the textures dont load)

hey everyone!
long time ago I downloaded the Ocarina of Time Cel Shaded Pack (I think it was the federelli's pack) and it worked perfectly ive played the game with the cel shaded graphics.
Now im trying to playing again (in a new pc), but the textures dont load, I remember to see the black screen with the white letters and stuff but now I just dont see anything.. Ive downloaded the Djipi's pack(I tried to download the federelli's pack but I think that the link is down or something) and I have all those thing installed correctly I think, like the rice video plugin, the BMGlib in the main project 64 folder, hires_textures inside the plugin folder, and then THE LEGEND OF ZELDA folder inside the hires_texture folder and the "load hi-res texture if available" activated etc.. and then when Im open the rom the textures dont load.. I dont see any black screen and nothing it just cuts to the nintendo logo and starts the game normaly with the normal non cel shaded graphics..
Ive already reinstalled this more than 5 times.. I wonder if it misses something but ive checked the guide in the forum and its seems thats everything is fine..

what problem do you think it is?:(

THANKS in advance

Hi!!

When you start the ROM, it must appears on the top of the window THE LEGEND OF ZELDA. That could be the problem. Or the directory of the hires-Textures is false, it must be "X:/.../Project64/Plugins/hires_textures/The Legend Of Zelda".

Ive already checked and its not the directory , when I start the rom appears THE LEGEND OF ZELDA

I am using the Rice's Video Plugin Debug 6.1.1 beta 10
Ive been reading and I saw that some textures must be placed in some folders like "World textures", is that right? cuz the other time that I played the cel shaded oot I dont remember to do that...

Thanks

have you ensured that the plugin is installed correctly? try getting rice 1.4 or glide napalm. make sure that you follow the installation step by step. it doesn't really matter so much about folder names, just unpack the directory as is. it should all be there for you

glad to hear it. Now for some extra graphical whizzaz go to the cel shaded/bloom effect thread and download the pack with the latest version of the bloom filter. Follow the instructions with Rice 1.3 (included with 1.4) and enjoy.

thanks ive already downloaded the bloom effect but I didnt understand quite well how to toggle the effect on..
to install the bloom effect is just putting the files in the project 64 folder am I right?

no, you have to firstly use the patch.exe file on the correct .dll - either ricevideo.dll or ricevideo1.6.3....dll, not sure which one. Then take the resulting d4rk.dll file from plugin folder and also put it in the main folder, and also extract the shader file you want to use into the main pj64 folder. It should work then. Also check to see that you have the very latest version of the bloom shader from the thread because it looks a lot better. It's like 3kb.

Ive read that you have to do this to play with the bloom graphics:
* Patch DX9 version of Rice Video. d4rk.dll will then be extracted to same folder as Rice Video
* Place d4rk.dll in emulator folder
* Place chosen shader.fx file in emulator folder

Im sorry but cant find that patch what is tha name of the patch.exe ? Im srry but im a lil confused.
I think I made it to play the game with the bloom graphics but its without the cel shading graphics but I just extracted the shader in the folder of the emulator, when I tried to play with the cel shading graphics nothing happened.

Patch.exe is called patch.exe. That's it.

You can only use one effect at a time. So if you've got bloom, you can't use the cel shading. Just swap them out and experiment. If bloom lighting works then just stick with that, you're in safe territory.

Can you give me a screenshot of what it looks like in game?

First pic you can see the bloom lighting in effect. Second one you can see the folder with the patch.exe at the bottom.
