However the only country to EVER released an atomic bomb was the US, was it not?

Yes, but since I was not alive 60 years ago, I can't say whether it was the best move or not: nobody can really agree on whether the short & long term effects were worth it or not.

Suffice it to say, two bombs were dropped, and they ended World War II in the Pacific, and helped end it much sooner in Europe as well.

Kim, on the other hand, is more likely to use the bomb to start a war that he cannot possibly win.

Make of that what you will.

They retaliated an attack on a militar base with the destruction of two cities, way to go.
Are you really going to start the "disproportionate response" argument 60 years later? We had already destroyed many of their cities (Tokyo was turned to ash) with conventional weapons. Same with Germany. The atom bomb was just a faster means to the same end. It was a different time; it was war.

The thing with the US is that they keep nukes and want to prevent the world of having them, man that sucks, i mean, if they want to invade a country (they do that all the time) there´s always the atomic shadow lying over the conflict, one can only try to defend himself.

As for the Korean regime, they are entitled to have whatever regime they want, if they see it as unfit, they also have the right to rebel themselves, Cuba did it, Brazil threw out a president and the US were forged on a civil war.

The "disproportionate response" argument is what i believe, although i agree, it was war and things get a little different on wars.

You must understand that countries with smth to offer like mine (biodiversity, water) are always afraid to be invaded by the US and the atomic bomb is the main drive of our fear.

Well, I don't know where you're at, so I can't say whether (as an opinionated American) whether you really have anything to fear or not.

Of course, bigger, larger countries should always be feared. And in our ever-shrinking world, China is becoming as much of a threat as anybody with their drive for natural resources, as well as powerful economy & military.

Hopefully nothing else bad will happen before Bush packs up and leaves the White House.

I´m in Brazil and ppl stole Uranium from us for 20 years, an american ship stopped by and told ppl that they needed some rocks to balance the ship, than they went to a mine of their own company and left with the Uranium without paying our taxes.
In the Amazon forest, one can´t go around without asking permission from some "mister" there. It is all upside down.

But yet no attempt on his life was ever made, the pope feared as well and made a bulletproof car to hang around

First i don`t like to compare the pope with some kind of bush.
Once on the discovery channel i saw a documentary related to the Cia, and one specialist there said about the various CIA missions : "You know that everybody knows our failures more than our successes, because them are kept secret."(that`s not what he really said coz i don`t remember it very well, sorry for that). So if you see Bush alive it doesn`t mean that any attempts to his life were ever made. You don`t even know if he ever had cough or a headache, so your logic is not quite correct. Sorry.:sombrero:

First of all you must know that history is written always by the winner. You must know that the japs had more kamikazes than they had planes. The only reason that the americans won the war was the nuclear bomb and their resources. Japan doesn`t have any resources. You must always know that the americans hadn`t a trained army. They trained some youngsters for some months and sent them to war.

Same with Germany. The atom bomb was just a faster means to the same end. It was a different time; it was war.

Germany lost because of Russia. You must know that when the allied forces entered in berlin the city was defended by some 16 year old boys with panzerfaust(bazooka). They had no more soldiers.

That's a lie. Nagasaki was a sea port. Additionally, Hiroshima was a military based city where munitions and weapons were being produced. I cannot say whether or not bombing japan was in fact moral or not, but it's a fact that had we not, many many more people would have died, including Americans.

Also keep in mind that after the first bomb, Japan was given the oppurtunity to surrender, and they chose not to :p

Amazonian forests are cut down by about 70% by american companies, and americans now faced consequences of this - for last 20 years southern coast got more hurricanes than for 200 years before.

And if what you say about uranium is true - THAT'S freakin scary. It can lead to "personal" nukes... Imagine some criminals with nuclear weapons at their disposal, it's not very hard to make plutonium from uranium.
