Non-"U" games and Paper Mario sound

Hello there!

Well, thanks to you helpful folks I learned how to use plug-ins... :) Next step is to understand how to use European games. I've no problems running games flagged "U", but the ones flagged "E" (which I think I understand to mean "Europe") run into a lot of problems. Must I tweak my settings on a game-by-game basis for these, or is there some large, "general" setting I must change when playing a game that isn't "U" ?

Also, I can't seem to get sound to work with Paper Mario... My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX. I checked a few threads but haven't found one listing that particular card and I'm confused as to which other card I can base my settings on...

Thanks!

The main difference between U and E roms is that they run at different frame rates: U run at 60 Hz (NTSC) and E run at 50 Hz (PAL). If you are having problems, get GoodN64 and verify that the games are marked [!] after the country code. There might be a few problems with specific E roms, I'm not sure.

As for Paper Mario, I use Azimer's HLE 0.55.1 sound plugin and it works great. Jabo's sound works, but it sounds crackly. Why did you give your video card? Your sound card is what matters. I use Rice's 5.4.3b plugin for video.

Why did you give your video card?

*slaps self* Darn newbieness showing through again! I'll try the audio plugin when I get home and if that doesn't work, I'll post relevant information for a change. :) Thanks for the suggestions!

Further problems with Paper Mario...

Sound works fine with Jabo but the game freezes always at the same point: in the introduction, in Peach's castle. During the battle, Bowser knocks Mario to 2hp then assume what I think is the fire breathing position then the image freezes. The music goes on in the background but there are weird sounds as if I were browsing options very quickly. Because of those sounds, I cannot tell for certain if the problem comes from video or audie set-up. :(

I have the latest driver for both video and audio cards. Video card is NVIDIA GeForce2 MX and audio card is onboard VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM). For plug-ins, I use Rice 5.4.3 for video and Jabo 1.5 for audio. Not sure if that's important, but I also have "RSP emulation plugin" enabled and in its settings, only the "Display Lists to Graphics Plugin" box is checked and the CPU core style is set to Recompiler.

I so have no idea what I just typed, but I hope it makes sense for you. :)

Thanks!
