I would think that nintendo has modified the drive so that it won't work in a regular pc without some serious modding and hacking. They seem to have worked so hard to prevent illegal copying, it would seem silly to leave something simple like that open.

The only way to play a future emulated GameCube Rom is to download it off a site or buy the warez cd since people with the developers kite can download the rom from the gamecube.

The people that are stupid, or just want to spam, won't even bother to take the test; it’s just a preventative measure.

If there's ever a Gamecube Emulator that runs perfectly, it will be after 5 years at least in my opinion

How long has the Dreamcast been out? like 3 or 4 years? It took what? 1 1/2 or 2 years for a DC emulator to come out, It'll probably be another 2 or three before it even starts to be able to play commercial games.

So probably a perfect Gamecube emulator will come out... never, but one that's pretty close will probably get here in six or seven years.

Well, the reaons why is because the DC uses special 1GB cd's. Which their proprietary. That's why it took forever. The GC hopefully wont be as hard.

I still say somebody needs to remove the drive from their GC and install it in their pc and try to write a driver for it. Then it will be very easy to write an emu for it. And I was reading that link. the gc disks dont spin backwards. Its just a bunch of bull. Runs clockwise just like a normal disk.

it wont be, its not like GC is as easy to emulate as PSX or N64, its better hardware and more complex. And also it would require like 3ghz Normal emulation (mabie more) to emulate it at a decent speed any way. HLE would be a good route to go tho for a foundation for next generation emulation

OK Let's see. This is mostly opinion but:

1) Noone has ripped a gamecube disk, it is a proprietary DVD format, if they did it would be big news. "Writing a driver for the drive" is nowhere nearly as easy as it may sound. That kind of thing only works on movies. 2) If / when they do find a way to rip the contents, they will be encrypted. 3) Only someone with the expertise of Bunny could solve that security problem, and it would take a really long time, and extreme motivation. 4) Once the contents are decrypted noone will have the means to clone much less manufacture a proprietary disk. This is the motivation problem. 5) As for emulation, apparantly there hasn't been much done with PPC according to this thread, much less the GameCube's operating system and other hardware.

If any of this ever happens, it will be a reaaaally long way down the road, and attempts will unlikely be nearly as successful as a dreamcast emulator, if that tells you anything. I'm sure the dreamcast hardware doesn't hold a stick to the complexity of a gamecube.

you will see a GC emulator, but it will not be as fast as a DC emu since there is a relatively large home dev community for the DC unlike the GC
