Nintendo Anniversary Drawing: No more kiddie Nintendo!

You all may have heard about how some people bash the Nintendo franchises for being tailored towards children.

Some guy has done several drawings - dunno if any of you have seen this before - of mostly Mario and Luigi in a rather...shall we say unexpected style.

View them here: http://asame2.web.infoseek.co.jp/mariof1.html

If this is new to you, laugh your guts out. If it isn't, laugh your guts out again. :p

Warning 56k: lots of pics.

That's just wrong. Nothing but wrong. A couple of the lower pics were pretty good, but pretty much all the ones with Mario and Luigi (looking like they're ready to jump eachother), was totally disturbing, haha.

the image of the nintendo character lineup looking like every. damn. anime. character. ever. seems totally disturbing to me. talk about a complete loss of individuality.

to make it worse the mario bros look like bastard children of superman and son goku. :whistling

Oh my god, what the fuck is going on in this picture :yucky:

Anyway, here's a picture I gathered from the SA forums a while ago, I'd wager that it's fuckloads cooler than this shitty animu faggotry.

Wow imagine a Mario game like that. That would be something else, as long as they kept the gameplay really good that would be an interesting style. Sort of a Super Dirty Industrial Mario Brothers 2049 SE.

DuDe, I think the whole point of the comics I linked to was poking fun at "shitty anime [you mean manga :) ] faggotry". Normally when people hear Mario, they think "shiny happy place." Drawing Mario and Luigi as serious, grown-up muscled men makes their costumes (Raccoon, Frog) look absolutely juvenile and ridiculously funny. :)

The comic also makes fun of several hackneyed styles of drawing in manga; the smash brothers parody screen is one example. Recognise that "shady eyes, hard-set" look of Ness? That's prevalent in yakuza/cyberpunk/excessive violence-centred comics. You also see those in Koopa's minions, drawn in the same fashion. In another page which you can find by returning to the homepage and trying out the links (which lead to more ridiculous comics), you can find a mock-up of Mario and Luigi done shojo style. That is the very epitome of...wrong. :D

I also find it cracks me up to read the "Mario and Luigi save the day" storyline. In it are all the cliches of a hero story - big bad guy with a mean face and equally mean-faced minions, rabble steps forth to condemn him and he burns a few to teach them a lesson, those few happen to be an innocent girl's parents, Mario and Luigi come to save the day. Normally I would be thinking "ha, those goombas are gonna be flattened" and seeing Mario and Luigi confront their foes in the classic manga showdown manner and rip out their fists is completely unexpected and funny. :D

But it's not funny when the art is shitty and Mario and Luigi look as if they've come out of some 70's homosexual pornography

I like the picture with Mario and the Princess posted by DuDe.
Somehow it remembers me the visual of Earthworm Jim.
