Right so like I was doing some light reading (for me anyways no more books on philosophy before I sleep anymore, Karl Marx gave me bad dreams), and found this article on new Atomic clocks for timeing standards. Very interesting techiques for clocks timeing! 430thz a fast enough clock?! That is sub pico second (well 2325.581 femento seconds to be precise.. <COUGH>), very very very fast oscilator in other words.

Well anyhow I found it fascinating at least!

As amazing as this new technology is you sure can't beat an old Casio watch for originality! :p

Oh, yeah. I only managed to get through the first paragraph. I think I left my Doctors Degree in a parallel universe! :)

I find it ironic that the "second" has gotten more precise, yet it is still not perfectly accurate. How do they know that its perfectly accurate? Chances are, within that 400 million year period, earth is going to be knocked out of spin by some earthquake or something altering the time that a second really is.

400 million years is so long the equipement is likely to die long before that.. I think that is the real thing they were noting. :)
